What does a week of content creation look like?

NEW WEEK Commencing 15 April

I

Every week I review what I do on LinkedIn. One to help me, but more importantly I want to share what i do so that you can see that it is not too difficult to create a bit of content.

Views Last Week 1,891 viewers in the last 90 days. Only slightly short on views as I had 172 people looking at my profile in the last week that’s only down 6 people!. The graph says I’m 14% down.

Views This Week BOOM! Way up this week. 1963 viewers in the last 90 days. And a massive 253 people looking at my profile in the last week that’s up by 80 people. WOW. 38% up on last week.

Followers Last Week 7,275

This Week - 7,343 which means that I have added another 68 which is up quite a bit on last week’s performance

536 Search appearances last week! 527 searches this week!

Pretty steady week all in all, even though the impressions was down. Obviously my commenting strategy is working.

We’ve just booked a cruise and because of all the procrastinating, I wondered what other people do. Cruising is a personal experience and not everyone's idea of a great holiday. So for some information and interest, I asked the question.

You can use these personal things as ideas for creating content.

What questions do you have?

Have you ever been on a cruise or thinking of doing so?

My wife wants to go on a cruise for our Wedding Anniversary but the thought of being stuck on a ship for a week or more is not my idea of a holiday. 🤦‍♂️

So we've just booked a mini cruise!!

I was thinking that if I never try it how will I know if I don't like it?

So with a mini cruise, it's only a few days and if I've wasted our money there's no harm done.

Plus we get to see Amsterdam!!!

So many people LOVE cruising ❤️ Even Richard Branson has gone into cruising. Far safer than rockets eh 😂

So with so many choices, it has to be a good idea for a holiday.

So here's the question. (s)

💚 What should we be doing when we get on board?

💛 What do we need to book right now?

💚 What do we steer clear of?

💛 And what are the must-see things in Amsterdam?

💚 What's all this I hear about coffee shops?

If you're a 'cruiser' please share your top tips.

If you've had horrendous experiences on board, please let me know too. As I say it's only 4 nights 😁

I am trying to purchase a replacement car for my 10-year-old Nissan so I went to Exeter to go and find one. Exeter has one of the biggest concentrations of car dealerships in the UK, possibly Europe so I was able to wander around many different forecourts.

Only one salesperson came out to help me.

ONE.

So it got me thinking about customer service or lack of it. Car sales are down, so why are we not getting customer service?

I created this post based on the back of it too. I got loads of engagement and not many people argued with me. Everyone had a story of poor customer service.

Here’s the post.

Are you invisible?

Do you feel ignored?

I felt like I was invisible on Friday afternoon when I was looking to BUY A CAR 🤦‍♂️

Our car is ten years old so we're looking to change it.

So I went to March Barton in Exeter, a huge trading estate with pretty much every car dealership centred there, so dead easy for the car buyer. I got fed up and went home. Cash still in my pocket.

I don't know about you, but if someone walks into your shop wouldn't you pop over and see if you can help them?

I visited the following dealerships

Audi, Ford, Nissan, Mazda, Jeep, Seat, Suzuki, Hyundai, Car Store.

Guess how many people popped out of their warm showrooms to come and great greet this buyer?

Only ONE. Three cheers for Hyundai!!!

I walked 4,000 steps on Friday afternoon around their car forecourts and I was invisible. It's not like I just drove past🤦‍♂️

With car sales down to a 30-year low I think I know why 😂

Have you had a similar experience when looking to make a major purchase?

Has anyone ever purchased a car on cinch Maybe I'll get better service there eh?

What are your top tips for buying a car, I guess I'm out of practice.

I didn’t get so much engagement on this post. Not sure why as I am helping people to become better at adding comments. I used a graphic that I created to illustrate a point.

When you do this, think that 70% of people are creating content on their mobile phones so make sure that the text is big enough to read on a square of 6.5mm by 6.5mm. On my old iPhone XR. I guess this is a normal size of a phone nowadays eh?

Don't forget to add your Alt Text too as people with visual impairments cannot read the text!

Do you add comments to posts on LinkedIn?

Which club are you in?

Are you engaging and having fun on here or are you in the 90% club and just scrolling on by?

Are you missing out on the fundamentals of this incredible social networking platform?

If you think of LinkedIn as ONE BIG HUGE networking meeting, you know, like those lunches or breakfast meetings, then you are in for some really serious networking.

Who goes to those networking meetings and just sits in the corner?

Not me. And I guess you actually talk to some people too eh?

Think of every post on LinkedIn as a little group of people chatting.

If you drop a like you are smiling or acknowledging the conversation.

But if you get involved and drop a comment, then you are actually taking part in that conversation.

💚 You can steer that conversation.

💛 You can add value.

💚 You can share your opinion.

💛 People will see you

💚 People will notice your smiley face

💛 They'll also see your Headline

Do you want to just sit in the corner?

Come on, get engaging.

You never know where it will lead you.

What's the BEST that can happen?

I am featuring on a webinar today so I made a post all about how excited I am to be appearing with a couple of heroes of mine.

It was a great webinar, once I get the link I will drop it in here. Until then please get in touch and I’ll add you to the waitlist.

Here’s my post where I used the webinar host’s graphics!

Do you get excited or panic if you are a guest on a panel on a webinar?

You can guess what I am feeling like today then? I could crush a grape and jump off a doll's house!!

Do you feel that social media doesn't work for accounting?

Can you believe that Accountants & Bookkeepers can get a steady stream of business from LinkedIn?

Today I am SO EXCITED. 🥳

I am on a panel.

But not just any panel

I am featuring on a webinar with not one, but two Superstar Accountants.

These two superstars have nearly 80K LinkedIn followers and are knocking their businesses out of the park because of what they do on social media.

Introducing @Francesca Tricarico FMAAT and @Samantha Mitcham FMAAT 🥳 🤗

Why not come and see what they do?

💚 How they share their ups and downs.

💛 How they make it work

💚 How they fit it into their busy schedules

💛 How they find it easy to recruit both staff and clients

@Jonathan Stobart will be firing questions to us so if you have any questions you'll have a chance too.

It will be recorded if you cannot make it live.

THURSDAY 20 April 2,249 impressions

I had a chat with a lady the other day and suggested she needed to make her photo bigger but she argued that it was more important to have some writing around her image in a separate ring. Some graphic designer had created this for her, but as her face was reduced it made her smaller.

To demonstrate the point I created a screen mock-up and added measurements to make it a visual representation.

This got leads of engagement, but this lady has not come back to me yet.

I can but try eh?

Read the post to find out why it is so important to have a big face on LinkedIn.

Are you filling your ring?

Can I really see you on my phone?

I am training some students this week and one of their homework tasks is to create an optimised photo.

You may spot them. They have a huge head and a bright colour.

The reason for this is that 70% of LinkedIn users do so on their mobile devices.

So that we only see a screen around 6.5mm X 14mm

And then your photo becomes tiny.

As small as 4mm at times.

The space for your image on LinkedIn looks huge when you are sitting it up on your desktop, but when I look at you when you comment on my post you are just 6mm big.

I cannot see you if you are not filling your ring 🤦‍♂️

People buy from people who they know, like, and trust and the photo is the best way to build that trust.

If your photo is not standing out then why not change it today

In my Free Resources in my contact details, you'll find out how to do this.

But if you struggle, send me your photo and your colour choice and I'll do it for you. Just DM me.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of you on my phone!!

FRIDAY 21 April 1,785 impressions

It’s Friday again and I love to do my gratitude post. I get lovely messages from people when I do this..

Either on the post or privately.

Go on. Have a go and create some gratitude.

When you celebrate all the great things in your life, then the rubbish things do not matter.

It's Friday, so What Are You Grateful For?

Have you had a good week? Did you crush a grape or jump off a doll's house?

⭐️ 🥳 🙏 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊𝐒. 🙏 🥳 ⭐️

Every Friday I share my gratitude and thanks to all the fantastic people in my network who have lifted me up over the last week.

Who or what has impacted your week? Sharing your gratitude is another way to practice mindfulness so please share your wins and thanks for this week.

First off for me is the wonderful gang on my 30th Cohort of the LinkedIn Daily Habit Workshop. Challenging me with questions and helping each other to grow their use of this incredible platform. Thank you for joining me. 🙏 Do you LOVE LinkedIn now then? ❤️

Next up is the lovely human being that we all know and love - James Court. James is doing great things to bring the wonderful people of Exeter and Devon together to collaborate share and grow their businesses.

We even had a cracking talk from Radio Exe. Sadly Paul isn't on LinkedIn, 🤦‍♂️ but Ashley Jeary is and I now listen to his afternoon show on Radio Exe

Whilst at Jame's event I also met up with Claire Perry-Louise 🫶🏻 and helped clean her sticky mitts and had a massage from the ladies at The Wellness Angels I also met with loads of other wonderful people and had lots of hugs, but I'm sure you don't want to see a tag wall eh 😂

My books have arrived ready for Accountex where I'll be on stand 430 with Natalie Tipper and the Payroll Sorted gang. Now I have to work out how to get 200 books to London 😂

𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬

I'm Chatting with the incredible Nadin Thomson at midday today all about ChatGPT and AI on a LinkedIn Live show. Maybe we'll see you joining us? https://15mins.day/ChatGPT 💚 💛

But the highlight for me this week was being on a webinar with two of my LinkedIn Heroes. The wonderful Francesca Tricarico FMAAT and Samantha Mitcham FMAAT. They are just so lovely and genuine. This brought about the lovely Jonathan Stobart from Bright.

We had a good natter about LinkedIn and how these two superstars have grown their accounting practice by being on this incredible platform. Hopefully, Jonathan will give us a link to the recording.

How was your week?

Who do you want to give a shout-out to?

What are looking forward to this weekend?

What are my thoughts on this week?

I love a week when I do my workshops because I have some new people who are expecting great things. We always have fun. Because of everything that goes on my engagement has a bit of a spike. My Accounting Community is growing too so this helps with my total level of engagement too.

You can join the Accounting Community here for free. https://www.linkedin.com/groups/14195642/

Here is the breakdown.

Last week I had 31,877 impressions and only 668 engagements

This week it is 29,715 impressions and only 786 engagements Down on one and up on the engagements. It’s all about the engagements. These are the conversations.

This is where the magic happens!! I am commenting on other posts too so this gets people to see that I am active and therefore the algorithm is rewarding this activity.

Have I said that it’s all about consistency?

Here are my best 5 posts this week.
