This post was prompted by my recent post on seeking thoughts around my book name where I got trolled by someone who took it on themselves to berate me for taking advantage of people rather than paying a books designer.

Is he wrong? Is it ok to ask for an opinion on LinkedIn?

Here’s the post wish got me some lovely messages.

Is it right to ask for help? I mean for FREE?

We all ask for directions, or a suggestion for a film, a book or a good restaurant.

And we do not mind chipping in. We like to help, don't we?

Human Nature, right?

I'm a firm believer in reciprocity and my philosophy in life is that You get out what you put in.

This phrase was my hashtag until the Russian invasion of Ukraine

(when the words are all put together it doesn't work 😂)

"𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧" is also the chorus of my song and the strapline of my business.

This week I asked the LinkedIn community to help me come up with a title for my book.

I have so many ideas and I want to get them right, so who better to ask than people who are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to reading business books?

I often help people with my thoughts and ideas and my free videos on my YouTube channel to help you get more from LinkedIn. So I figured it would be okay to ask my book question.

I was overwhelmed by the generosity of people. Some lovely comments and expanded thoughts on my ideas to suggest alternatives.

We also got into a bit of debate about the design as well due to my brand colours. Thank you to all the lovely people for their thoughts here too.

I even had some meetings with some awesome people who offered to read my book, discuss the design and just have a chat.

Thank you to Mandy Ward and David, Rebecca Wilson and Ben Masters for taking the time to catch up with me. Plus a special mention to Kate Guest, she knows why ❤️

Thank you if you were involved. Keep an eye out for more news.

Let's keep helping each other and you know if I can help you that you only have to ask.

Have you asked for help?

With the sad news of the passing of the Queen it’s been a strange week online.

I wondered how are we going to manage with the collective change.

Here’s my post

We are still reeling from the news of the Queens death, so not sure what to write I wrote about the change we all need to adapt to.

How do you manage change?

I guess we all have a lot to adapt to, especially in the UK this week.

We started the week with a new Prime Minister and ended the week with a new Monarch. HRH King Charles III

A massive change in such a short time frame. How do you manage change in your life?

Our brains are wired to fear change. It's part of our survival defence system so you could find it hard to adjust. I'm sure Lynda Shaw PhD or Lorraine Stamp know a thing about this too.

We need to take each day as it comes and get used to the new normal.

Talk to people, share your thoughts and let time help you.

Think back to times in your life when you had to confront change and remember how you managed to get through and maybe even blossom.

We've all been through the pandemic, lockdown, no toilet paper and fear for our jobs and livelihoods. We got through that. How did you survive?

Maybe call on those experiences and take one day at a time? Speak with family and friends to see how they are doing.

We all manage change differently, however you do it, good luck and if you have any tips, maybe drop a note on here.

This is when the community really counts eh?

If you need to talk, please get in touch. We will get used to the new normal, but it may take a bit of time.

Enjoy your Sunday ❤️

In my band, we are learning some new songs and it wasn’t easy so I thought that this would make a good post to help people when they are facing something challenging.

My post are all about sharing what I do so that people can benefit from what I do.

Do you ever feel 'Under Pressure?

Especially when trying something NEW?

I did last night. 🤦‍♂️

Our band are learning some new songs and this classic from Queen and David Bowie got us all thinking.

When you try something new, it's going to be hard. It's new, so what do you expect?

Just like everything in life and business. But the more you try new stuff the easier it becomes the next time.

We learnt the song together. Practised on our own at home, then came together last night to see how we all fit.

The song is a real challenge for a singer so I was really worried about my performance. I struggled in the middle bit with my timing, so we all worked together to help me get there.

Then the bass player needed a bit of a hand. And the guitarist needed to sort out the intro and even the drummer needed a hand.

We practised a bit more and then, because of the high notes, I needed a break.

A cup of tea, some nibbles and then when we went back we pretty much nailed it.

It still needs work, but when we looked at the song last week we were not sure it would make the grade.

We are at a 6 out of 10 at the moment. We need an 8 to be comfortable to play it live, so we'll not be playing Under Pressure next Saturday, but we will be playing it for our gig in October!!

If you are struggling to make something work, ask for help, take a step back and then a break.

When you push through it you will get there, but sometimes all you need is a cup of tea!

What challenges have you found with new stuff and how did you get through them?

Interesting reaction to this post this week. A great photo with a book featuring you’d think would spark an interest.

It didn’t seem to when you look at the impressions, but the engagement was brilliant. Probably one of my most poorly performing posts in recent months!

But this week has been a bit strange.

Here’s the post

Have you won something recently?

I did!! I'm sure it was the yellow shirt that helped😂

At a recent LinkedIn Local with Vic Williams, we were delighted with a wonderful and inspiring talk from the lovely Claire Perry-Louise.

She told us about her journey from a solicitor to a public speaker and serial networker. Her story of how she finally got her voice was fantastic.

She then got us to jump up and mix with other people so that we too could be heard. This resulted in us finding out commonalities with our small groups and as a group, we won the book.

I've got it for a few weeks and then I'll be passing it on to the next person.

Such a great morning and lovely to find out more about Claire.

Thank you Claire and Vic for such a great morning.

What have you won recently or when was the last awesome networking event that you've been to?

I bumped my car yesterday. I was trying to do too much and I was not present, so a little bump occurred. But this gave me the kick up the bum that I needed to start to think about my actions and how much that I try to do.

It was a great lesson learned and so I thought that I would share it to show that we are all human and sometimes we need to take a breath and slow down.

It definitely worked.

Do you lose the plot when you bash something or have a little accident?

Do you blame people?

Do you admit responsibility?

Do you jump up and down and then hit your car with a branch?

(That last statement was a reference to Fawlty Towers a classic comedy from the 1970's where the star attacks his car with a tree because it won't start!))

I hit the car yesterday! 😱

I was rushing around. Trying to do too much. Not quite being present.

It's ok, nobody was hurt. Well, maybe my ego. 😁

It's all down to mindset don't you think?

This is great, because today I'm talking to a group today about this very subject. 𝘚𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘐 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘳 𝘴𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘱 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺. 😂

Our mindset is what makes the difference. As soon as I hit the car I knew it was because I was doing too much.

I couldn't fix it immediately, there was no danger to life and I knew that I needed to do something to slow down.

So in the afternoon I took some time off and went to the beach with my daughter and grandson, and Debs, she did forgive me.

I wasn't going to make it any better by losing steam or sleep and it can be fixed.

I'm definitely taking it easier today. What about you?

What do you do in these situations and how do you control your mindset?

FRIDAY 19 September 1,580 impressions

It was a strange week this week and my content has not been reaching the normal levels. So I was wondering how everyone else was getting on, hence this post.

How was your week?

Did you smash it out of the park, or did you just smash your car like me? 😂

Whatever you managed to achieve, however big or small, have you moved forward by just 1%?

A little 1% gain each week is another step towards your goals and by keeping moving you will get there, so do not beat yourself up if you haven't quite managed everything.

I am the world's worst at telling myself off for not doing something, but on reflection, I do keep moving. We cannot make huge gains every week and sometimes it is just a case of making it to Friday.

If this is the case, why not plan your week for next week so that you start your week knowing what you need to do?

This is what I will be doing today so that I can maximise my time next week.

This week I am pleased because I managed a sale for my new service and my book is back from the editor.

What did you achieve this week? What have you learnt? What did you do that was a little outside your comfort zone?

No prizes, but by taking a little time to reflect you will realise that you have done something awesome!

Have a lovely weekend. ❤️

That was the week that we mourned the loss of our great Queen. Quieter and different on LinkedIn. Reflected in my graph for the week.

The graph says I am down 25.8%

Last Week 15,711 Impressions and 558 engagements 3.55%

This week 12,935 Impressions and 446 engagements 3.45%

Exactly what I was expecting due to the current events.

I have just launched my VIP Profile Review service

For just £45 I will give you a comprehensive video of what I see when I look at your profile and and explain what you need to do. I will then have a zoom meeting with you to discuss your reactions to my video and help you to make sure that your profile stands out.
