My Week On LinkedIn - Breaking down the Content

NEW WEEK Commencing 1 April

Every Week I review my activity on LinkedIn. Hopefully it'll give you an insight into creating content and also some inspiration to create your own content too.

Not as good a week on LinkedIn this week as we have been doing. It is holiday time in the UK with Easter at the end of the week so fewer people on the platform I guess. I’ve started posting on an Accounting Group that has nearly 18,000 members.

Views Last Week 1,959 viewers in the last 90 days. Similar views in the week with 192 people looking at my profile. The graph weirdly says I’m down 31%

Views This Week 1,908 viewers in the last 90 days. Down a bit with only 178 people looking at my profile in the last week. The graph says I’m 10% down.

Followers Last Week 7,193

This Week - 7,236 I have added another 43 which is down a bit on last week’s performance

500 Search appearances Last week! 536 this week!

It’s April Fools Day and because I did a joke last year I thought I’d have another go, but ironically it is actually a great idea. You cannot pinpoint when you write a post on LinkedIn so actually adding the date when you create it means that you’ll always know!!

Some people got it., others fell for my trick. Sorry if you were one.

Have you noticed how your reach on your content has dropped like a stone?

Have you tried anything different? I think I have somehting that may help you.

Even if your views are down are you still getting similar engagement?

I've been playing around with different experiments and I have started to see my impressions increase over the last 10 or so days. 🥳

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘆 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀.......

When I go back and see my posts I noticed it said 3W which means the content was created around 3 weeks ago.

And then when I found my anniversary post it said 11M which is 11 Months ago.

I wanted to know when the post was actually created so I started adding a date at the bottom of my content.

Just the date in the UK format Date - Month - Year

It's brilliant because now when I see an old post I know when it ws created, but I've now seen an increase in the number of impressions on my content. 🥳 ✅

Not just a bit, a lot.

My impressions are back to where they were before LinkedIn played around with the algorithm

Why not try it yourself

I want to help people so I run a drop-in surgery for LinkedIn help on the first Monday of every month. I used the day before to remind people that it is happening.

The Event post also enables me to invite people. If you want to see a video on how to do this. Follow this link.

Do you feel all alone on LinkedIn? Want a place to drop in chat?

Do you want a review of your profile or your content?

Every Month on the First Monday (normally) I open the doors of my shed (Via Zoom) and welcome LinkedIn fans to drop in, we have a natter, share our thoughts and I answer all your social media-related questions.

All for free and a fun safe place to meet up.

This is what we do. No agenda, just drop in!

💚 Review of your Profile

💛 ANY Questions Answered

💚 Suggest improvements for your content

💛 This Months Topic is VIDEO

If you cannot make it tomorrow I run these events every Month. Next month because of the bank holidays it'll be 2nd May.

Have a fantastic Sunday and maybe we'll see you tomorrow.

It’s Monday, so it’s Video Day. Could you do a weekly video? People look out for my videos now and I am recognised at events so video really does help to build your brand.

What's the best thing to write about on LinkedIn? Do you see content and think you cannot be a creator?

Don't worry, you are not alone. This is why I give you these 5 new ideas every MONDAY.

Creating content needs to be part of your strategy on social media.

This is because only 1% of people on LinkedIn actually create content.

So with a content strategy of even 1 post per week, you'll be doing more than 99% of LinkedIn users.

With my videos each week I show you that content is EVERYWHERE and because I write regularly I am seeing content in every situation.

It's just practice. But don't think you have to post EVERY DAY.

If you want to have a chat I have free surgery today. DM me for a zoom link without even registering!

💚 Go and have fun

💛 Create Content

💚 Take Photos

💛 Share your story

💚 Be brave

Watch the video for my ideas this week and happy creating 🥳

Previous Week

I had 2,347 impressions, 23 Reactions, 46 comments, and 0 Reposts. This also means a lot more views. This week it was 763 views watched by 694 viewers with 259 minutes viewed. Much more impressions. Nearly double and this is reflected in the number of viewers and watch time. Sea view!!!

This Week was a big drop on last week. I had 1,936 impressions, 23 Reactions, 46 comments, and 0 Reposts. This also means a lot more views. This week it was 567 views watched by 507 viewers with 165 minutes viewed. Probably because less people watched due to b=the Easter breaks.

We always hear of big companies being hard on their small customers but seldom hear the good news stories. So when I received some great customer service this week from Adobe I thought it worthy of a post on LinkedIn.

This is a great topic for discussion as many people have experience of customer service, good or bad so will get great engagement.

Here you go

Do you get BULLIED by the Big Boys?

You know the thing. Large corporates reminding you of the T's & C's and not listening to their customers?

HOWEVER. What about the nice companies who actually care about their customers?

With everything that is going on with me at the moment my grand plans to do more video editing and fallen by the wayside so with much regret I've decided to cancel my Premiere Pro subscription.

Yes, that meant contacting Adobe

The initial discussion was that I signed an annual plan (although I'm paying monthly) and that I'd have an exit penalty.

Ooops. I didn't realise that was an option with a monthly plan and I'd obviously not read all the terms and conditions when signing up eh? 🤦‍♂️

Do you read all the agreements when you sign?

But when I explained my situation they understood where I was coming from and wanted to do everything that they could to make sure that I was a happy customer.

💚 They had empathy

💛 They listened to my problem

💚 They wanted to help

💛 They care about the little guy

They waived the exit penalty and now I have reduced my monthly costs as well as relinquished my use of the excellent software.

💚 And now I'm writing a post about my great experience

💛 I'll go back to Adobe when the space in my business allows

💚 I'll tell other people how good their software is

What comes around goes around eh?

Let's give a shout-out to the wonderful businesses that listen.

Who has been exemplary for you?

Thank you Adobe

WEDNESDAY 5 April 4,403 impressions

I was chastised the other day for not talking about the work that we’ve done with guide dogs so here we go a post about Guide Dogs. Who doesn't love a puppy? What do you do that we don't know about? This would be a great idea for content!

Who's your favourite? These are our 4 guide dogs but do we have a favourite?

I was told a while back to say a little about the work that we've done with Guide Dogs and after talking to a friend yesterday I thought that now was the time.

For many years my family have nagged me for a dog, but being scared of dogs and not 'seeing the point' we never had one.

My thinking was that some people don't want children and as a father, I cannot see why you wouldn't want them, so I thought that maybe that was the same with dogs.

So we went down the road of applying to be Puppy Raisers. Lots of forms, visits and approval but in the end, we were rewarded with Trecker. A black Lab.

That's when all the fun started. Lots of training, lots of rules, lots of puddles and lots of chewing but after around 18 months he went on to proper training with Guide Dogs 8 months later he was placed with a guy who had become a recluse because of his sight loss in his early 40's.

Trecker has transformed his life. (I'm crying writing this)

And we had a small part in that process.

So we had 3 more puppies over the next 5 years. 🐾

And they too have transformed lives.

We are too busy with life at the moment and sadly do not have a puppy, but we are on the list to help out when another puppy raiser needs a holiday so you will often see me walking across the seafront with a guide dog.

Never say never.

Maybe a few more people will be inspired to check out the wonderful work that The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association do for the visually impaired and their families.

I'm going to do a live show one day to talk about all the fun that we have had and invite some other puppy raisers on the show too. Watch this space.

It's such an amazing thing to be part of and so rewarding.

Do you know a puppy raiser or someone who has a guide dog?

Let's hear your stories.

And no, we do not have a favourite ❤️

THURSDAY 6 April 4,896 impressions

It is 2 years since I started my business so it’s time to reflect on what’s been happening and pat myself on my back for all the things that I have achieved. It’s hard to write something that doesn’t sound too pompous or braggy. But you do have to share what you have done because how else will people know?

What milestones could you share? People love a good news story and celebrating business success is a great way to let people know all about you and your business. It’s also great for engagement.

I had so many lovely messages so it was lovely to reflect back as I have had some tough times during the last couple of years.

What pushes you to keep going in your business when it gets tough?

What stops you from getting another job? Do you focus on the good things that you've achieved or compare yourself to everyone who is supposedly "Smashing It"?

Today is the 2nd Anniversary of the start of my business Full Cup Coaching and although it's been fraught with adversity and issues here I am 2 years down the line and still smiling. 🥳 🥳

I'm smiling because I have so many wonderful people I can call on when things get tough. So many superstars cheerleading and supporting me. 😁

Here's the thing. I compare myself to who I was last week, a month, a year, and two years ago.

We don't know what we are doing when we start out in business and we make it up as we go along.

If you are further ahead in your business, you know this. What tips have you got for those of us following you?

For those of you who are behind me. This stuff is real and we need to stop and reflect on how far we have come.

So here are my last two years in numbers!!!

💚 10,220,000 Steps

💛 1,593,959 Post Impressions

💚 39,000 Press-ups

💛 39,000 Situps

💚 1,141 Podcast episodes listened to

💛 1797 Recordings on Loom

💚 396 People trained in my workshops

💛 372 Zoom Meetings

💚 255 YouTube Videos

💛 157 LinkedIn Live Shows

💚 98 Hours of Yoga

💛 97 Recommendations on LinkedIn

💚 92 Monday Nudge Emails

💛 66 Monday Videos

💚 64 LinkedIn Newsletters

💛 56 Guests at the Book Launch Party

💚 42 Books Read/listened to

💛 33 Friday Thanks

💚 22 Podcast Episodes

💛 17 Guest appearances on Podcasts

💚 7 Speaking Gigs

💛 7 Hosted LinkedIn Locals

💚 2 Yellow Shoes

💛 1 Book written

But most importantly......

❤️ 1 Brilliant Wife. ❤️

Without Debbie behind me, I wouldn't be here. She believed in me. She encourages me and she is there 24/7. Thank you, Debbie. ❤️ I love you so much.

When the going gets tough, top and reflect on how far you've come.

Just small steps every day and you'll get there.

I'm still taking those steps, but having so much fun., So thanks to everyone who has had a part in my incredible journey ❤️ 🙏

FRIDAY 7 April 1,297 impressions

It’s Friday again!! And that means my gratitude post. It was Good Friday so not so many people around, but I’m still grateful!

What are YOUR highlights for this week?

How did it go?

⭐️ 🥳 🙏 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊𝐒. 🙏 🥳 ⭐️

Just in case you don't know. Every Friday I share my gratitude and thanks to all the fantastic people in my network who have lifted me up over the last week.

When you think of all the things to be grateful for the world seems a much friendlier place.

Who or what has impacted your week?

My week this week was spent reflecting on the last couple of years as yesterday saw me celebrate 2 years in business. If I listed everyone who has helped me, been an inspiration or just had my back I'd use all 3,000 characters. You know who you are. Thank you 🙏 ❤️ ❤️

Thanks to Will Vine and his lovely team for the invite to their awesome networking event in Exeter. Great to meet so many new people and be the only person in a yellow T-Shirt. I also bumped into the lovely Alex McLachlan who is also the bass player in our band Static Charge. Will and I also perform as Vine & Dandy so a great musical photo!! Thank you, Will and Everys Solicitors 🙏

Big up to the sunny evenings we've been having and getting the opportunity to enjoy a beer in the sunshine. So grateful for the lighter evenings and a bank holiday this weekend too.

Great to have a chat with Zoe Whitman FCCA this week. A very inspiring woman who is doing great things with Jo Wood and the The 6 Figure Bookkeeper. I'll be joining her and the members next week for some training about pricing. Thank you for inviting me Zoe 🙏

And finally big thanks to my new friend Andy Mullaney for his lovely testimonial off the back of one of my free 6-minute videos for his LinkedIn Profile Review. We all think we have a good profile, but when you get a second opinion it makes you think eh? I love it when people appreciate what I do. Have you looked at your profile recently? Thank you Andy 🙏

Have a fantastic LOOOOOONG weekend and please let me know why you are grateful today.

Sharing gratitude trains your brain to look for the good in the world.

Come on, share the love today

What are my thoughts on this week?

My content has performed well this week, but I am also posting into the accounting community group which is helping my numbers on content, but not so on the views to my profile.

Maybe we need to get more comments flowing in the group? I am getting a similar number of impressions on both posts as I did the same content on Thursday. Interesting eh? As the numbers in the group increase, I guess this will also increase.

Here is the breakdown.

Last week I had 21,880 impressions and 844 engagements

This week it is 26,224 impressions and 1,033 engagements

This week my impressions have increased and the graph says it’s 17% up!!

And the engagement has been amazing. Thanks to everyone who has been there on my content and supporting what I do! Over 1000, must be my 2nd Year post eh? Up 38%

Here are my best 5 posts this week. I have started posting in the Accounting Community Group so this is getting more exposure within a community that doesn’t have much content. You can find this community here.

If you want a hand with your content please get in touch, and sign up for my weekly email that gives 5 new content ideas each week. I call it the Monday Nudge or why not check out my content book?
