How Well Does Content Work On LinkedIn - My Analysis of my Content this past week - Ideas For Growth

NEW WEEK Commencing 19 August

My Weekly Blog: What Do I Do with Content Each Week?

On a Saturday morning, I review the content from my activity on LinkedIn to create this blog.

Every week I review my activity on LinkedIn, specifically my content and my posts. The reason I do this is so that I can carry on making sure that my content works and that I'm hitting the mark and creating engagement content that people like and engage with.

I also share this so that you can get some inspiration too. I also share all my analytics so that you can understand what can be achieved with your content.

This week I have also been working on improving my profile so that all these visitors get value and can see what I do to help them. They may not be interested in my help, but if I make it obvious, they may know someone who does need what I can provide.

What can you do to make your content comment-worthy?

My engagement this week has bounced back. Mainly because of my controversial post on Sunday. See below for more information.

Views;

Previous Week Numbers are dropping a bit because 90 days or so ago I had a big peak. 1,932 people have viewed my profile in the last 90 days. Down another 1% this week, with 174 people viewing this week. That’s still a brilliant 24 people every day!!

Views This Week My numbers this week have increased with 181 people viewing my profile this week. 1,954 people have viewed my profile in the last 90 days. Up 2% this week.

I need to make sure that my Profile changes a bit so that there is more for people to see! Can you easily see what I do? Check it out here. https://15mins.day/connect

SATURDAY 19 August 4,607 impressions

My first post this week was on Saturday and it was a document post. Using a document post is a way of sharing information in a PDF. The document is shareable and downloadable, but it's also very easy to read when on a mobile phone or on a desktop.

If you're going to use the document post, please have a look at this video (https://15mins.day/new-doc ) Make sure that you make the text really big because most people scroll through on their phone.

I keep seeing lots of things that people should be doing on LinkedIn and the three things that you really only have to do is consistency, commenting and content and that's the three C's that I talk about in my training. I put this together in a little slide document and called it three LinkedIn hacks that work and this one got an awful lot of engagement.

Do you get fed up with people sharing Quick Fixes? or Hacks?

Do you look at their LinkedIn Profile to see that they're not practising what they preach?🤦‍♂️

Using social media takes time. ⏰ There are no quick fixes, and if they seem too good to be true then they probably are.

Sorry. I need to be blunt.

You cannot jump on LinkedIn on Monday and expect sales by Friday.

I reckon it takes at least 6 months, by which time you will....

💚 Have wonderful new connections

💛 Nurtured some lovely referees

💚 Have developed a great habit

💛 Be growing your network

💚 Seeing leads come in

💛 Know what works

We are looking for the Silver Buttet, but some things just take time.

Consistency pays off. Commenting works and we do not need to create content every single day.

Are you seeing results from what you are doing on LinkedIn?

How long did it take you?

SUNDAY 20 August 10,430 impressions

On a lighter note, let's talk Zoom etiquette! This week, I had a run-in with a sales professional who chose not to activate their camera during our Zoom meeting. This got me thinking: is this a breach of virtual meeting decorum? So, I put up a post describing the incident and asking for opinions.

Titled "Is This Rude?" the post delved into my love for Zoom and video calling's numerous benefits. I shared my perspective on camera usage during virtual meetings and asked followers what they would do if they found themselves in a similar situation. The engagement was overwhelming. I appreciate the diverse viewpoints that arose, even if some conversations took me out of my comfort zone.

Being controversial will get better reach, but do you want to create this kind of persona? If it is something that you feel passionately about then go for it. If you like a quiet life, then keep doing what you do.

What would you do in this situation?

A salesperson has invited you to a Zoom call to pitch to you and they give some poor excuse for not having a camera turned on. 🤦‍♂️

I love Zoom, or Teams or FaceTime etc. How cool to see who you are talking to.

They are much better than a phone call any day. Especially if you are trying to sell your goods or services to someone eh?

Video Calling is great because

💚 It enables us to see more than just the voice

💛 It allows us to build a relationship

💚 You can spot inconsistencies

💛 You can see body language

💚 It's More Personal

Now I understand that if I have initiated the Zoom call and you are having a bad hair day, or your home office is a bit messy. Then I never worry if you do not turn the camera on.

You may also have religious reasons for no camera and I get that too.

But if YOU initiate the Zoom call is it rude to expect me to be open and on camera if you are not going to bother to show up on camera yourself? Why not make it a phone call?

We had months of lockdowns and reduced travel, so we should all be comfortable on Zoom by now. Heck, even my aged parents zoom me every week for a virtual coffee. (one of the best things to come out of lockdown🥳 )

In retrospect, I should have said something along the lines of "if you cannot turn up on camera I'll leave." But I am just too darn polite.

What would you do?

Has this happened to you?

MONDAY 21 August 2,630 impressions

On Monday I always do my video and this week I ensured I was in a fantastic location. And I had a cool shirt on.

I stood at the top of the hill and I used my gimbal to make the video. Every Monday I create an idea and this week I've put the five ideas in the post rather than making people watch the video. Even so, I still had an awful lot of engagement.

It's Monday and you have to create content but are you feeling stuck?

How about looking at these 5 content ideas for a bit of inspiration?

Every Monday I create a newsletter. I call it my Monday Nudge and I turn this into a video.

In this video, I go a bit deeper than the main topics to help you think about each topic and come up with different ideas.

But if you're busy, here are my topic ideas this week.

💚 The Lionesses

💛 Napping

💚 Menu Planning

💛 Bank Holiday

💚 National Dog Day

You'll have to watch the video for more explanation. I was up on the cliffs in the sunshine overlooking the sea. I am so lucky!

Creating content gets people looking at your profile and getting to know you more. So try to create one LinkedIn post each week. You do not need to write every day.

What do you do when you struggle to create content?

What are you going to write about this week?

Good luck.

Previous Week

I had a big number to compete with last week, but 1,730 impressions is still a good effort, but it was down with fewer reactions too as just 37 reactions, and 31 comments is more than half the number from last week. I really should watch what I wear.

Views of this video are down a massive amount too, to 644, almost half the views!! Watched by 40% fewer people at 580, and 100 minutes less viewed at 209 minutes viewed

  • Reactions: 25

  • Impressions: 2,630

  • Video Views: 536

  • Video Viewers: 493

  • Video Minutes Viewed: 170

This Week

Up again with 2,630 impressions. But reactions are down to just 25 reactions, but with more comments up to 52 that's better engagement and this is what drives views!

Views of this video are down again. Not by much, but still down. Is that because I shared the topics? I’ll drop that this week. Here are the numbers - 536 views. 170 minutes viewed which is down half an hour and only 493 video viewers. My video this week starts on my paddleboard!

TUESDAY 22 August 2,403 impressions

Ever worried about what happens when your posts receive minimal engagement, almost like the sound of crickets chirping? This Tuesday, I delved into this topic, reminding my audience that engagement isn’t the sole measure of impact.

I used Canva to create a post featuring an image of crickets to symbolize the scenario, asking if anyone else had experienced the same.

Starting with a thought-provoking question – "Do you think what you're doing on LinkedIn is a waste of time?" – I emphasized that crickets shouldn't deter us. The result was a lively exchange of opinions reinforcing the idea that even seemingly quiet moments on social media hold significance.

Do you think what you're doing on LinkedIn is a waste of time?

Please don't let the crickets put you off 🤦‍♂️. What you need to do is simply keep at it.

It's about Consistency.

Just because you're not getting engagement with your content

💚 It doesn't mean that people are not seeing it.

💛 It doesn't mean that your message is getting missed.

💚 It doesn't mean that you are wasting your time.

Here's my take......

Have you seen any of the summer blockbuster movies this summer?

💚 If you did, you are consuming the content.

💛 If you applauded then you are engaging (Who claps at a movie 😂)

💚 If you wrote to the director or the actors then you are really engaging with the content.

But who does that?

It's the same with your content. People are seeing it.

They are just too busy to hit the like button or add a comment. Or they are not yet versed in LinkedIn protocol.

I've spoken to many people in real life who say they love my content and can see that my business is going well and they ask about things that I have done.

These people have NEVER interacted with my content online. 🤦‍♂️

But because they have seen my content they know I am a LinkedIn specialist so if they bump into anyone who needs a LinkedIn specialist what do you think they do?

They talk about ME. They say how I can help them.

Please don't give up.

LinkedIn is a marathon, not a sprint.

What are your thoughts on Crickets and Consistency?

Does it feel like tumbleweed or crickets when spend an age creating your lovely LinkedIn Post?

WEDNESDAY 23 August 1,512 impressions

On Wednesday I wanted to talk about my podcast because it has just reached a thousand listens.

I love podcasting. This is because I wanted to be a DJ when I was at school. I therefore asked the question, when you were at school, what did you want to do when you grew up? I created an image in Canva where I added headshots of loads of amazing guests who have been on my show. I also tagged some of them and I also wrote to some of them and asked them to comment on my post.

Because many people are not doing what they wanted to do when they were at school has given me a lot of engagement

What did you want to do? You can find my podcast here - https://15mins.day/pod

When you were at school, what did you want to do when you grew up?

Spaceman, Policewoman, Rockstar, Train Driver, Footballer, I bet you have some great memories of when you were growing up.

Are you living your dream? Are you really doing what you want to do, or has your career seen a different route?

Funny how things pan out and I guess the job you are doing now may not have even been a job when you left school.

LinkedIn trainer was not around when I was at school 😂

How many people actually do what they dreamed of?

I wanted to be a Radio 1 DJ 🎙️🎶. A radio presenter they call them now!

But back in the 80's we never had the opportunities that we have now, so I ended up becoming a chef. And I have had 30 jobs over the years and now I am finally doing what I dreamed of.

Not quite Radio 1, but I am having so much fun.

I host and present a Podcast and that has to be the same eh? (It is in my little world)

And this week has seen my analytics show over 1,000 listens. Not a big deal, but imagine 1,000 people in your local pub 😁

In the montage are my recent guests, Melanie Goodman and Brigitte Bojkowszky, Ph.D. along with my star today, Kathryn Frimond and Neil Mullarkey who'll be joining me next Tuesday.

Thank you to all my lovely guests, you're helping me live my dream. 🙏💚 💛

So come on, what dream are you living?

Let's hear how many train drivers are still dreaming.....

THURSDAY 24 August 2,702 impressions

On Thursday I took the plunge and did what my coach told me to do. I do not talk much about what I do to help other people on my platform. I feel that it's icky. I feel that it is salesy. But if somebody gives you a testimonial, then that's not you saying you're good, that's someone else saying you're good.

I got myself an image of me smiling, and I grabbed hold of the screenshot of the testimonial, which was done in a public place, and I also asked my client, if he was okay with this.

The post, aptly titled "Do We Know What You Do?" centered around the idea of shouting out about one's offerings. With my smiling face and screenshot the post prompted valuable discussions.

Sadly no enquiries yet.

Do you shout about what you do for people?

Or are you like me and forget to tell people about how you are helping your clients?

DOH🤦‍♂️

💚 You write great content

💛 You add value with your posts

💚 But do you share your successes?

We need to make sure that we remind people what we do and if you do it right, then it doesn't need to be salesy or icky.

What do you think?

If it wasn't for this lovely unsolicited testimonial yesterday I would have written about something else today, but my coach, Tracy Irwin gave me a dressing down. 😱

"How do people know that you are a coach Ashley?"

You may know me as the 15-Minute Guy, helping you with LinkedIn, but I am also a qualified Business Coach.

I have a handful of lovely clients whom I help grow their businesses and deal with the struggles of being an entrepreneur.

I meet with them on a weekly basis to help with accountability and every month we have a strategy session to make sure that we have some growth plans. We have fun, but we also get things done.

If you had to meet with me every week you'd get things done too eh 😂

I have a few spaces so if you'd like to be writing a testimonial like Pavol then why not get in touch? I'll work with you for just a month, or for longer, it's all about YOU! DM me for more details.

So come on, spill the beans....

FRIDAY 25 August 1,382 impressions

Fnally, on Friday, I always do my gratitude post. I'm being more mindful of my gratitude post and taking photos of me on social media. I share some of the people that I talk with during the week. The images this week were all happy, smiley people. I feel the smiles is what got an awful lot more engagement. I spoke with a friend during the week talking about how we make our images, so I've upped the work on what I'm doing with my images.

What are you grateful for?

How was your week and what are you grateful for?

If you focus on gratitude you'll see more positive things rather than getting bogged down by all the rubbish that we see.

What are you grateful for today?

Who has been a superstar for you this week? Or it may just be that you found somewhere to park today or the lights we all green!

⭐️ 🥳 🙏 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊𝐒. 🙏 🥳 ⭐️

Here are a few of the super people who've made my week one to remember.

My Week started with a meeting with Becky Craven as we're busy marketing our Social Media Workshop and we needed some flyers. We had a few meetings and by Wednesday Becky had collected our awesome flyers which I have started handing out around Exeter!! Great work Becky, I cannot wait to work with you on this one. ❤️ 🙏

I had a fantastic chat with Peter Watson who appeared on my Live LinkedIn Show the other week and has had 12 new connections and 5 real enquiries. We discussed what he did and created a video to help other people doing live shows. Thank you Peter, a great insight 🙏 ✅

Kevin Pickett purchased my book and sent me a delightful message that truly made my day. This just goes to show the power of connection and why LinkedIn is such a brilliant networking platform. He's new to LinkedIn so please give him a follow! Thank you Kevin 🙏 ⭐️

Another walk with the lovely Katherine Dyer and a Zoom Chat with Zoe Whitman FCCA has given me even more inspiration for my business. Isn't it wonderful when you chew the fat with a fellow business owner? Another viewpoint really helps eh? Thank you both ❤️ 🙏 ❤️ 🙏

Finally, yesterday I was chatting in the DM's with my lovely friend Jane 👃 Tarrant and because we were both free we hopped on a Zoom. We had a good old natter about business and growth and LinkedIn and all kinds of stuff. Jane is a superstar on LinkedIn and a real breathing guru. But she made me look again at my profile!! I am now busy trying to implement her awesome suggestions. Can you see any changes yet? Thank you Jane, you are a genius and such a lovely human. ❤️ 🙏

And I also managed some time on my paddleboard this week!!

BOOM!!!

💚 How was your week?

💛 What are you doing for the Bank Holiday?

💚 What have you got to be grateful for that you can share here?

What are my thoughts on this week?

Reflecting on this week's journey, it's evident that authentic content resonates deeply. From sharing LinkedIn insights to pondering virtual meeting norms, celebrating podcast milestones, and embracing vulnerability in self-promotion – each post struck a chord with my audience. Engagement thrivedand it's clear that fostering meaningful conversations through relatable content is the key to a vibrant and engaged community.

I feel that I had a good start with my weekend posts, so I’ve worked hard to give serious value this weekend too.

How do you measure your content performance? Do you review your activity?

How was your week?

Here is the breakdown.

Previous week

Last week was another good week with 20,007 impressions, up another 5% But engagement’s were down. I think this is because a Poll gets lots of eyes, but not so many engagements. Something to think about when setting up the poll! Engagements were down by 17% to 597

This week

This week has been a belter!! A staggering 29,210 impressions, up a massive 43% With a peak of 8,901 l;ast Sunday!!! Even better, my engagement has leaped by 55% to a whopping 935. That’sll be the contraversial post eh?

Here are my six best-performing posts this week.

If you want a hand with your content, please get in touch, and sign up for my weekly email that gives five new content ideas each week. I call it the Monday Nudge. Sign up here https://15mins.day/nudge
