How does real content perform on LinkedIn? This is a breakdown from my content this week.

NEW WEEK Commencing 04 March
The tide is turning on the LinkedIn Algorithm and we are all seeing loss on the reach of our posts. Engagement seems to be holding, but fewer people have eyes on our content, which makes it harder for traction.
Having said that though I have seen a bigger increase in the number of people connecting and following me, so the bottom line is still good.
So, as I said last week, stay consistent and don’t give up.

Views Last Week 1,761 viewers in the last 90 days. A drop of 16% 152 people looked at my profile this week which is 16% down from last week.
Views This Week 1,794 viewers in the last 90 days. It says a Drop of 5% But I think that with 33 more viewers then that’s more eh? 162 people looked at my profile this week which up 10 from last week.

Followers Last Week 6,937 - This Week - 6,995 I have added 58 extra followers this week which is double last week. That’s encouraging eh? Even though I’ve had fewer eyes on my content!

Last week was a tough week because I was struggling to get people onto my popular workshop so I am trying to figure out why and do something about it. This has been on my mind for a while. On Thursday it got too much so I just dropped everything and went for a walk to clear my head and have some peace by the sea.
I also had a chat with a good friend. When you run your own business you are trying to do so many different things whilst also aiming to make an income. Because so many people do run their own businesses I thought that I would share this.
To maybe help someone else who is struggling and to also show that we are all human.
Here’s my post

Are you doing too much? Do you find things are getting on top of you?
Don't worry me too. And many people I speak to have the same thoughts now and then.
Is this you? What do you do at these times?
When you run your own business you are trying all kinds of things to get to the next step eh?
💚 Some things work.🥳
💛 Some things just get you going around in circles. 😱
💚 And then you look at your diary and it's super full 🤦♂️
I had a bit of a wobble this week and on Thursday during a call with my workshop coach, Luke Netherclift, I just said let's pick this up tomorrow and closed the zoom.
The sun was shining, so I went for a walk.
I went to my special place on the coastal path high above Sidmouth. Got out of breath powerwalking to the top and then sat on the bench and admired the amazing view in the sunshine.
I also had a good chat with my friend in Amsterdam.
A good night's sleep and then yesterday all was well in the world. I picked up with Luke and we've got some great plans set in place.
And I've cancelled some less important things in my diary for the next couple of weeks.
Thank you to those of you who have my back. 🙏 You know who you are. ❤️
What do you do when it all seems a bit much?
Do you have anyone in your corner? I'm in many people's corners and we all help each other. I am so blessed to know so many lovely people.
Have a fantastic weekend.
It's just me and Debs this weekend.
Oh, and a gig with Will Vine at The Marine in Sidmouth so if you fancy some live music and a pizza we'll see you at 8:15 pm tonight.

Following on from not many people joining my workshop I had some fun with my wife taking a load of photos and creating this Document Post.
It is designed to give people an idea of what can be expected in my workshops. Loads of engagement and views, but sadly not many people signing up!
If you want to know how to do a document post then have a look here

It's always a video. Although this week it didn't do so well.

Do you want some inspiration for creating content on LinkedIn?
Do you struggle with ideas? Don't worry I have five ideas to help you get creating and be one of the 1% of LinkedIn users who are creating.
Here's my video for this week. It's a short video. Do you want to know my tip for keeping your videos short?
We are told that videos need to be short and succinct eh? So if you go outside in just a T-Shirt when it is freezing cold you'll soon get to the point. 😂
My ideas this week are really random, but hey, isn't that what life is all about?
You do not need to write posts that are about business all the time.
Here are my thoughts
💚 International Women's Day.
💛 Air Fryers
💚 Recycling?
💛 Mastermind Groups
💚 Conferences
What will you write about this week?
Are you going to do a video?
I have my LinkedIn Surgery today so if you are booked on for your free session let's talk content ideas too eh?
Have a fantastic week and reach out if you want a hand.

You’ve heard me say before that content is everywhere and this week it certainly was. I was wandering around my local town and noticed a plethora of job adverts.
It got me thinking and then this post was bourne. What could you write about just seeing things in your local area?

How's your recruiting going? Is everyone looking for staff?
On my morning walk the other day, I saw a couple of Job Adverts in the windows of two shops next door to each other.
I then walked around the corner and saw another. So I got my camera out and started snapping.
In total, I found 9.
Yes, NINE posters in the window of various shops and offices in this small Devon seaside town on one day.
It got me wondering.
❓ Is this the same in your town?
❓ Are you trying to find staff?
❓ What's happening in the broader economy?
❓ Are you struggling with recruitment?
I often see one or two adverts but 9 is a bit worrying.
How are you managing with less staff?
Do you have any top tips?
I see from reading posts here that some businesses are doing great things here don't worry about recruitment.
But then I see other posts about outsourcing or businesses doing reduced hours. 🤦♂️
What can we do?
Or is it just Sidmouth?
I cannot wait to hear your thoughts and how we can improve our business recruiting.

To celebrate international women's day I shared the amazing event that Sarah Jepson is hosting next week.
She’s built up an amazing network and she wants a few men to attend the event so i thought that I would help her out.
Don't be afraid to help out other people in your network? Reciprocity goes a long way. The other benefit is that I now have a few more connections in my network too!

What are you doing for International Women's Day?
Have a chat with the delightful Sarah Jepson.
I missed an amazing talk yesterday, but I have front-row seats for Sarah's next BIG THING 🥳
Sarah is doing some incredible things to bring wonderful women together and champion them.
Sarah is creating a community where like-minded women can connect, grow, and create opportunities.
And next week the Big Thing is the
International Women’s Day – Power Panel
Next Wednesday 15 March
And the panel includes these inspiring women.
💚 Tumi Siwoku
💛 Amanda Alexander
💚 Jaye Cowle
💛 Tamsyn Allington
💚 Verity Panter
💛 Tanuvi Ethunandan
Are you coming? We need some more men there. I know that Matt Young is coming, but who else?

I was at the Local College this week helping out for their careers days and what a great event it was. Also, so lovely to be able to give back to the local community.
It was also a great learning curve for me to see what our future leaders will be doing and their thoughts on the world.
Because I structured the post with questions this was a very engaging post and got people talking.
Here’s the post.
What skills do you think our youngsters need to master?
I did a thing yesterday. I was at Sidmouth College helping the lovely Nicki Young with her Year 8 Skills Day.
We (me and some other business owners) popped into the college to talk about SKILLS.
The college is helping the students to think about the skills they need for the big wide world. We had 8 main skills and did some exercises with the students to work out the following
💚 Which skills are important
💛 The skills they have today
💚 Skills that they need to develop
💛 How they can demonstrate these skills
I talked about my communications skills and suggested they got part-time jobs in hospitality as this means lots of communication.
What tips would you give?
I also said that I was a trainer and coach for LinkedIn. Guess how many of these 12-year-olds actually knew what LinkedIn was?
Less than 10%. 🤦♂️ I have some work to do eh? 😂
What are your top skills? How have you gotten to where you are today by developing your skills?
What other suggestions do you have to help our youngsters?
Have you done this at your local college?

It’s Friday again and what a wonderful week. If you are wondering how I created the graphic, it was done in Canva using the frame tool!

Every Friday I share my gratitude and thanks to all the fantastic people in my network who have lifted me up over the last week.
Who or what has impacted your week? Did you have fun in the snow?
I've been more mindful this week and really enjoyed this week with so much less stress.
It's all about focusing on the big things and letting the 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗴𝗼.
𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳 has to be John Espirian and all the amazing people who braved the weather to make it to Bristol for the very first meet-up. How delightful to meet all these people whom we've only seen on screen.
Yes I am shorter than you imagine. 😂
We had a lovely time chatting, networking, and putting faces to names. I cannot name you all, (you were all wonderful and thanks for the hugs) but big up to Guy Strijbosch 🇺🇦 and Jane Eggers who came from The Netherlands and Germany to join us. Well done John, I hope you feel duly proud 🙏 💚 💛
𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 is a big Thank you to Louisa Willcox for her help and advice this week. It's so great talking to people who have different perspectives and her money strategy is awesome. Thank you, Louisa, ❤️
𝗜 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁 with Ben Westerby one of my superstar students. Check him out as he's smashing his activity on here. Seeing my post last week and reaching out to check in and offer some help and support. Thank you Ben 🙏
Finally, I am the 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 at the CIMA Members in Practice Spring Conference so big thanks to Lorraine Ellison for her help in making this happen. I'm so excited and I'll also be doing some special LinkedIn work for the delegates. Thank you Lorraine ❤️

What are my thoughts on this week?
Down again but not the big jump like before. Photos seem to be the thing. I haven’t done a poll for a while so maybe this week will see one come out. I’ve also got a great idea for a photo post in the week too. Plus it’s my workshop this week and that always creates a bit of a buzz.
Here is the breakdown.
Last week I had 12,434 impressions and 651 engagements

This week my impressions have increased although the graph says it’s 6% down.
But my engagement is down a chunk which is a real shame. It seems that if the video on Monday does poorly then that’s the barometer for the week. I was out today recording my video by the sea so maybe that’ll help.

Here are my best 5 posts this week. More photo’s this week

If you want a hand with your content please get in touch, and sign up for my weekly email that gives 5 new content ideas each week. I call it the Monday Nudge or why not check out my content book?
I have just uploaded a video to help you with optimising your profile. It is all about your contact details and why it is so important to include this information. Including your birthday. You can find this video here.
