My Weekly Blog: Unveiling the Secrets of LinkedIn Content Creation


Each week, I break down my content from the previous week, providing insights into my creative process, the thought behind each piece, and the varied results they've achieved.


I share my analytics so that you can gain valuable knowledge to enhance your own content strategy.


In this blog, I offer a comprehensive overview of my content lineup, sharing the purpose and intention behind each post.


I also provide a detailed analysis of the performance metrics. By sharing my analytics, you can gain valuable insights into the engagement levels, reach, and impact of each piece.


My intention is that you can use this information as a benchmark and a source of inspiration to refine your own LinkedIn strategy and build your own plans for growing on LinkedIn.


Here are my thoughts and numbers for this week.




Views; Previous Week 2,203 -The overall number had dropped but the chart says an increase 13%, with only an extra 28 people looking this week up to a pretty respectable 161!!





Views This Week 2,232 -The overall number has increased, and the chart says an increase of 24%, with 213 people looking this week. I’m hoping the improvements to my profile will help with more enquiries. Because, let’s face it, that is ultimately what we want.

Previous Week 7,684, which means only 36


This Week - 7,737 which is another increase of 53 followers.



372 Search appearances for the previous week! 462 searches a tidy increase, so I am getting noticed.

My daughter is getting married, and I’ve not written the speech. I’m worried about it as it’s my last daughter to fly the nest, and I guess it’ll be emotional, so I’ve been putting it off.


I thought I’d share this as a post to get some accountability and some tips. I cannot do the same speech that hit the mark at my eldest daughter's wedding, can I?


Posts like this are personal, authentic and show more of the real person.


We need this on social media to help people to get to know us, but not all the time. You will notice that my content is made from personal posts, views on business life and loads of helpful advice on using LinkedIn and other business tools.

What does the 1st of July Mean to you?


I'll let you into a secret; it's now only three weeks until my youngest daughter gets married.


And I've not done the Father of The Bride Speech yet.

Why haven't I done it yet? 🤦‍♂️


It's not because I haven't had the time or it's just been sprung on me.


I CRY. 🥲


I'm an emotional dad and in the back of my mind, I just know that I'll be a wreck on the day. I was talking about this with my wife yesterday. I got out the speech from my eldest daughter's wedding that I did and read it again.


And yes I blubbed good and proper. 😭


And to add a bit more pressure my daughter has said that I only have 8 minutes.


Does she not know that I'm the 15-minute Guy

I had a great idea for my eldest daughter's wedding that stopped me crying, but I cannot employ that again, can I? I guess only 50% of the audience would have seen it

I spent a load of time this morning creating some new events on Eventbrite, and this got me thinking about how powerful this platform can be. I have shared my thoughts to help you in this post.


I started the post with a question about what we use and do we forget how brilliant it is.


Do you use anything in your business, but only 10% of it? Time to watch a few “how to Videos”, eh?







Have you been using something and forgotten how brilliant it is? 🤦‍♂️


You need to have a look at what you do. You may have a revelation too!!!


We get stuck in a rut sometimes and fail to utilise what is staring us in the face eh?


What do you use for events? Have you found Eventbrite yet? Do you use anything similar to promote and manage your events, training or workshops?


I've been using Eventbrite ever since I set up my business and have forgotten how powerful it is for creating and managing events.


This morning I spent a bit of time adding some more Events and tidying up my profile so that it is standardised with the rest of my brand and social media presence.


It's taken a while but well worth the effort.


My Drop in sessions are FREE so it costs me nothing to manage these and for the paid events they pick up all the money collection and take out a fee that I m happy with.


Because I use Let's Level Up for my workshops I haven't paid so much attention to Eventbrite so I have created 6 new events to make it easier for people to tap into my free sessions.


The best bit (I think) is that you can follow me on Eventbrite so you'll get notified of every new event I create. How cool is that?

I had 1,391 impressions, which is a better increase. 33 reactions 5 more than last week. 35 comments wish is much more than last week. 0 Repost. Views of the video were up again. 477 views, watched by 434 viewers with 149 minutes viewed.



This Week

I had 1,983 impressions, which is quite high for my Monday videos. Boom!!! 38 reactions 5 more than last week. 55 comments wish is 20, much more than last week. 0 Repost. Views of the video were up again. 632 views, watched by 580 viewers, so a huge increase. I also had 185 minutes viewed.


It must be because the weather was good and I was by the coast!

TUESDAY 4 July 3,175 impressions


I’ve been talking about creating videos for a while now, and this week I had some superstars on my Live show, so I thought that I would give them a shout-out and see if we could get more people to come along and watch the show and get thinking about creating video too.


The show was a hit with a few people since creating videos.


Sharing a photo of me with my video tool also helped to get traction, and it’s obvious that people want a hand with video.

What is the best way to build trust on social media?


What is stopping you from doing video? How many excuses do you use to not get behind the camera?


People buy from people who they know, like, and trust and Video is consistently one of the best ways to build that trust.


You will not get the reach that you get with a photo post or text post, but what you do get is people watching you and really understanding who you are.


Looking at the analytics from my recent video show that the video has been played for 157 minutes.

That 157 minutes of ME in people's faces. Yeah I know, not everyone's cup of tea, 😂 but think about this......

My workshop is coming up on Monday so I did this post to create a bit of activity to let people know about it. So When I woke up in the middle of the night, I had this idea.


At 2:13 am it seemed a good idea, but I hadn’t realised how difficult it actually was.


But it is a puzzle which is how many people see using LinkedIn.

So many people know that they need to do something on LinkedIn, including the guy I met yesterday who was laughing at how rubbish his LinkedIn efforts were. 🤦‍♂️


He has 4,000 followers and is a director of a large company. But he has not utilised LinkedIn to share his story and how his company is helping people like us.


LinkedIn doesn't have to be a puzzle.


All of my work comes from what I do on LinkedIn.

I was listening to a podcast this week that explained why the reach is down on content engagement following algorithm changes.


There have been some complaints about the validity of content on LinkedIn. Too many selfies and not enough helpful content.


I’ve explained what it all means in this post today. I had some great engagement and some awesome comments.

So what does Advice and Knowledge look like to you and me?


Share more of what you know and how it can help the wider LinkedIn members, but worry about reaching the RIGHT people and not just everybody.


Creating valuable and targeted content is key to success on LinkedIn.


When you write with a specific audience in mind, your content is more relevant and engaging. And when your target audience begins to engage with your post through comments and reactions, LinkedIn recognizes it as a great post.


So, make sure your content is laser-focused on your target audience to drive engagement and reach on this powerful platform.


Write in your core subject area, so all my Accountants & Bookkeeping friends should be sharing tax advice or ways to run your business using the right accounting software.


By sharing this you'll be building yourself up as an expert in this field. Don't worry about going too niche either.


You can still do your selfies and outside-of-work type posts, but mix in more of the professional stuff too. People buy from people who they know, like, and trust so we still want to see that, but maybe not with every piece of content.


I want to help you get more reach so when I know more I'll share it with you.

What are my thoughts on this week?

That was a much better week and my content has had some great engagement. It can be tough trying to come up with content every day. So please do not think that you have to do it every day.


I suggest only three pieces of content a week.


I know I create way more than that, but I am a LinkedIn trainer, and I want to get people onto my workshops, so I have to show what you can do.


Weekend posting is a moot point too. Should we be on social media at the weekends?


Does it harm our reach if we take the weekend off? I am committed to creating content every day for 2023, but I will be rethinking my strategy in 2024.


Don't do what other people are doing.


Do what fits for you.






Here is the breakdown.


Last week I was down with just 17,085 impressions, which was 11% down on my impressions. Engagements were up 11% to 568.




This week has been so much better. 19,049, which is nearly 2,000 more but the chart says I’m down Engagements were also down on the chart by 8% but the numbers say an increase of 90. I don’t know why.
