How do you Know What Content Works on LinkedIn™️?

NEW WEEK Commencing 02 December

It's Saturday again and I am looking at my profile and wondering what I did this week. It's great to sit down and actually review what you do so that you can make improvements, you can make adjustments, you can make things better plus you can learn and grow from just taking the time to review.

It also gives you some ideas and maybe you’ll be reading this in a book one day?

Profile Views;

Previous Week

My views have risen this week to 168 people viewing my profile.  The total number of views in the last 90 days is 2,223 which is down just 2 since last week 90-day period.  However the graph says I’ve increased by 10%  This is quite strange when you look at how my content has performed

Views   This Week

The overall number has dropped below2,200 to 2,157 and in total I am down just 1% with 178 profile views this week.

In the previous week my numbers were at 8,982 that’s another 49 new followers this week. Another increase of 5 from last week.

This Week - Took me over the 9,000 follower landmark, in fact, it was live when I was in the book club!  I was hoping to get to 10,000 by the end of the year, but my personal strategy is to let people follow me, rather than chasing anyone to connect to.  I feel that if someone wants to connect or follow they are doing so by their own volition and feeling compelled to do so because I send a request.

That way I seem to have more engaged followers.I could land grab and get lots of new connections, but I want people to want to connect.

What is your strategy?  Have you ever thought about it?

I now have 9,029 followers, an increase of 47 which is similar to last week’s increase!

715 Search appearances for the previous week and searches 545 this week which is down.

 Follows  Last Week  174

Follows  This Week  174 Still no change.  This has been static for a few months

SATURDAY 02 December 1,101 impressions

On Saturday last week, my post was all about being fed up with my performance on LinkedIn.  I have noticed things are changing and happening on LinkedIn so I shared a post.

I also mentioned my event that was coming up to help people do more for LinkedIn. I offered advice to help people which also shows what I can do.

Rather than just text I added an image rather than make it look like an event post.  I used a topical photo of me wearing my Christmas jumper at the North Pole, although it wasn't quite the North Pole but we had decorated the house for our grandson so it looked festive.

Are you fed up with your performance on LinkedIn™️? 🤦‍♂️ It's not YOU!!

It's just that LinkedIn™️ are playing with the algorithm and for some light relief why not join my Drop-In Surgery?

On the First Monday of every Month, I host a free Zoom session where you can drop in.

SUNDAY 03 December 2,757 impressions

On Sunday, it was hug day! I shared a load of photos of me hugging lots of people, lots of friends that I know from my book launch and I gave a little bit of science about it and I just wanted people to think about hugging.

I tagged, a friend and then I dropped a line to a couple of other people that were tagged to say thanks for the hug.  Because of the imagery, this post did well.

Who gives a good hug? Do you love a hug?

It's Let's Hug Day today. Any excuse for a hug eh, but did you know that hugging is GOOD FOR YOU

I love a hug. So when you meet me... be prepared. I do ask first though.

But here's the science

💚 Enhanced Immune Function: Positive impact on the immune system.

💛 Reduced Anxiety: Calming effect on the nervous system.

💚 Stress Reduction: Releases oxytocin, lowers cortisol.

💛 Improved Mood: Triggers endorphin release.

💚 Increased Bonding: Strengthens social bonds.

Here are some photos taken from my book launch where I hugged pretty much everyone. But not all of them were caught on camera.

The best hugger here has to be Matt Young

Share your favourite huggers and tell us why you love a good hug

If you're not a hugger, come on, give it a go...... 🤗

MONDAY 04 December 800 impressions

On Monday, I always do my Monday nudge.

Five ideas every single Monday to help people create content I used the backdrop of the Christmas tree and put my Christmas jumper on.  This didn't do as well as the videos in the summer.

Are you giving up creating content because you're busy?

Are you fed up and stuck for ideas?  Don't worry because I am still creating my weekly videos to help you.

With people dropping off the platform because of the Christmas rush NOW is the time to capitalise on your content.

Creating content is all about CONSISTENCY

so just keep doing it.

AND it doesn't have to be every day.

Even once a week is consistent.

Why not commit to creating one post a week?  Why not make that a post on a Friday or Saturday sharing how your week was?

And by the end of the year, you'll have a business diary that you can drop into Chat GPT to come up with an e-Book of your year!

Watch my video or look out for my newsletter later for five more content ideas.

If you see this before 10:00am today, come along to my free LinkedIn™️ Drop-in Surgery where I will answer any LinkedIn™️ questions for you.

Good luck

Previous Week

Because my video was a little bit different, I had 1,161 impressions which is a little more than I've been having of late. Double from last week!  I had 46 comments, which more than 50% from last week and 29- 11 more.  I had 336 views from 304 viewers with 160 minutes viewed.  So much more than double than last week.  It shows that I need to get out more eh?

This Week

This week the figures have dropped again as my video was indoors.  Even the festive backdrop hasn’t helped.  Only 800 impressions. with 25 reactions a bit lower than last week but the comments were down by 20 at just 26.  I For the video, I got 800 impressions, 26 comments, 25 reactions and in my video analytics I got 277 views from 232 and 34 viewers watching 88 minutes. Down again.

TUESDAY 05 December 910 impressions

On Tuesday I was the guest author on the beer and book club.  So I grabbed hold of a beer, and a copy of my book and made a photo.

Rather than making the post about me,I asked if people belonged to a book club and asked them about authors and things like that so it's all about sharing stories.  I also shared my vulnerability because I never thought I'd ever be an author and the last thing I ever imagined was being chosen to be on a show like this so it was great fun and that evening was a good event too!  Have you written your book yet?  It’s not difficult, after all, I did it!

Do you belong to a Book Club? Have you ever been to one?

I've been to loads and used to run one, but tonight the tables are turned as I will be the Guest Author.

Me..... Guest Author? 🥳

I'm pinching myself. BOOM!!!!

I can remember hosting a book club a few years ago and asking published authors to come along to talk and answer questions about their books.

When I was asking the questions I never thought that one day I would become an author and be asked as a guest.

How funny can life be eh?

Tonight I'll be joining Stuart Mason, another published author, for his Book and Beer Club and the Zoom International Conference Centre.

He'll be grilling me on my book story.

💚 Why I wrote a book about Content

💛 How long it took to write

Plus he'll also be asking me questions about LinkedIn™️ too. I also know that he encourages everyone else to ask questions too.

I cannot wait.

WEDNESDAY 06 December 1,044 impressions

On Wednesday I wrote about my visit to the local college finding out what children are going to do when they leave school and it made me think back to when I wanted to leave school.  Back then I didn't have a clue as to what I wanted to do.  This was much like the youngsters here.  I didn't find out until I was in my 50s which then became the theme of this post.

I obviously met the principal and the careers teacher so I had a photo of all three of us and I shared that and asked the question of what other people wanted to do so.  Great for engagement!

What do you want to do when you leave school?

It took me over 50 years to answer this question.  What about you?

Pictured here is the lovely Nicki Young. RCDP from Sidmouth College along with the College Principle, who popped in to say hi.

I was lucky to be involved with the Year 11 Mock Interviews yesterday!

Can you imagine being interviewed by me when you were just 15-16 years old 😂. I was my normal self!

I learnt a lot yesterday, but the main thing is the awesome work that the college is doing by getting the local community involved in our young people's lives.

I met with a handful of youngsters who are keen to get practice with life preparation.  It was great fun and I hope I helped answer some of their questions.

Some do not know what to do, whilst others are focused and know exactly what to do next. Which one were you?

I even recommended a book and as we were in the library the, librarian ordered it there and then!!  How cool is that?

Do you have any connections with your local education establishments?

I recommend that you reach out, they'd love your help and experience and who knows where it may lead?

If you are local to Sidmouth, get in touch with Nicki, she is awesome!!

Did you follow your dream when you left school or are you doing something totally different now?

Thank you Nicki for having me yesterday

THURSDAY 07 December 485  impressions

Thursday, I wanted to promote the fact that I'm doing some work with Zenler, so I took the graphic from the email that they sent out and I talked about what I was doing and told people what the quick fixes were.

Again, I didn't use the Event feature on LinkedIn as I am finding it gets lower reach.  The event was a huge success and should lead to more collaborative work with Zenler.

Can this week get any better?  How's your week going?

I get to spend the day FILMING today. 🎥  Then on Sunday, I've been invited to a very special group!! 🥳

I've been asked to give a presentation and Q and A session for those lovely people at Zenler

And you can come too!!

I'll be sharing my 30-minute presentation on the 4 things that many of us get WRONG with our LinkedIn Profiles.

And you'd be surprised how many LinkedIn™️ Superstars get it wrong too.

I call it 4 Quick Fixes because they are dead easy to put right.

We'll be looking at...

💚   Profile Photo - Does it show you in your best light?

💛   Background Photo - (Banner) Does it work?

💚   Headline - Is it just your job title?

💛   Contact Details- up to date?

It's on at 5:00pm on Sunday evening, we'll be done in an hour and if you're quick you can come and join us. (Plus Q&A)

Here's the link for Sunday 10th Dec -

Is your profile optimised?

FRIDAY 08 December 1,610 impressions

And then finally, on Friday, every single Friday, I do my gratitude post.

This is where I share my good news, I share what I'm grateful for and I give people a shout-out to say thank you for making my week brilliant.

Ah, this week was great. There's no exception.  I had a stonking week and I've still got some great news that I'm not allowed to share at the moment.

WHAT A WEEK.....  How about you?

Do you give gratitude for all the amazing things that happen to you even if it's finding a car parking spot?

Look for the good and it'll help with the bad 🥳

What are my thoughts on this week?

Impressions have really seen a hit as have our engagements and it’s quite demoralising.  Especially as a trainer as I know my students will be feeling it too.

But we need to keep plodding on with our consistency.  I’m guessing that with the end of the year close, there are going to be fewer people around, so we can factor that in, but we need to do a bit more to make things work.

I comment on many posts during the week as this keeps us front of mind.  The number of profile views is going back up so I must be doing something right and this is the point of monitoring what we do each week.

I’ve got some different ideas this week so when I write this next week we’ll hopefully see some uptick in performance.

Previous  week

Last week's reach as written above has crashed by 30%  impressions are at 13,496 Engagement has dropped too to a sad 596

This week

Views are down another 23% this week to 12,585  impressions.  Last week I had a rise so it’s definitely a rollercoaster at the moment. Engagement has also dropped by 21% to 565.  I need to try harder next week eh?

Here are my five best-performing posts this week.
