I had to fill out some feedback form and when I got to the How old are you drop down I was shocked that I didn’t have many options left. Obviously a survey for younger people.

I’m happy being my age, I think we all are eh? But it makes you think. I wondered what everyone else thinks so I shared this post.

What are your thoughts?

Do you get reminded how old you are just by helping someone?

This has just happened......Do you embrace it or shy away from another birthday?

I've seen some birthday celebrations here recently and people are saying that they are feeling old.

And they are only just hitting 30! 😂

I had to fill out a form this morning and the options put me nearly at the bottom of the page 😱

Policemen and teachers are looking so young nowadays to me, heck even politicians look young 🤦‍♂️

But I do not worry about it, well maybe days like today when this jumps out like a sore thumb, but the alternatives are so much worse.

I love being in my Fifties. 🥳

💚 I have so much to offer

💛 Loads of experience

💚 I want to help people

💛 More free time (Kids grown & flown)

💚 I appreciate life

💛 I have more patience

What makes you feel old?

But more importantly, let's celebrate us "Nifty Fifty's" and anyone else who is feeling old.

We have loads to offer.

A big hug to anyone who says that I don't look my age 🤗

Do you like buttercream? When my wife makes a Victoria Sandwich, she makes a little portion without buttercream because I find it so sweet and sickly. But as we had people over she made it ‘normal’ so lashings of buttercream.

It’s ok, she still loves me, but wanted it to look ‘right’.

But does everyone actually like buttercream?

With my post, so many other people agree with me. Whilst others think I’m nuts!!

It created a great debate and who doesn’t like cake?

Do you like buttercream?

Are you a fan of homemade cakes? Do you have a favourite?

But what bout the simplest of cakes? The Victoria Sandwich - Buttercream and Jam, or JUST JAM?

I'm not too fond of buttercream.

There, I've said it. Sorry, but it's just too rich and sweet for me and when I scrape it out of my cake, or off the top of a cupcake I get lambasted.

But is it only me?

What do you think about the simplest of cakes?

Is it sacrilege to leave the buttercream out?

Give me a lemon drizzle any day. 😁

If we have any budding bakers out there, what have you created recently? With photos!!

TUESDAY 11 July 1,232 impressions

I was on a live show in the USA so I wanted to shout about it. It went live at 6:00 pm UK time so not many UK people watched, but we had loads of US-based people joining in. And I sold some books off the back of it. It is now a podcast if you would like to listen.

What language do you speak?

Is it clear? Does it make sense? Or do you use long words and acronyms because of the industry that you are in?

Language is very important when conveying your message.

Do you know what a sidewalk is? Or sneakers? And do you call the parts of your car a hood, fender or trunk?

I am so excited again today 🤩

I'm talking to the lovely Gillian Whitney this evening on her live lunchtime show (she is in the US hence the American words)

We'll be talking about content.

But I also want to talk about language, because it's the language that you use that makes your content come alive.

Or just BOMB

I write just as speak and as I talk a lot of rubbish my writing style is very laid back.

But I also talk with super intelligent people who use really long words and therefore their content is more highbrow.

💚 Should we dumb down our content?

💛 Should we just write for us?

💚 Should we care?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on what language you are using when you create content.

What works for you?

I'd love to hear what the epic content writer Odessa Sherreard has to say too.

WEDNESDAY 12 July 2,773 impressions

With the algorithm changes on lInkedIn, I wanted to share some information with people to help them get over creating personal and business-related posts. It’s more important to mix it all up so that we have something for everybody.

So I started a debate to see what other people thought.

This was my most popular post this week and not a photo or selfie in sight.

What do you think?

Here we go, this is the post….

Do personal posts actually get new clients on LinkedIn?

Don't we want BUSINESS HELP here, not a selfie of a glamorous person?

Why is it that we see people smashing it on LinkedIn and all they do is personal posts?

These were some of the questions in a debate at the end of my 2nd Training Session in my week-long workshop yesterday.

I've already written about the change in the LinkedIn algorithm. (See comments for that post)

It seems LinkedIn have listened to complaints from its members that we do not want Facebooky type content on here.

We want business help, things like

💚 Tax advice

💛 New technology

💚 Funding suggestions

💛 Hiring opportunities

💚 Business advice

💛 Legislation updates

But there is nothing wrong with mixing things up. Just make sure that you have a balance.

Some personal posts will help people get to know the real you. But do not go overboard.

And while I've got you, mix up the content styles too so that it is varied

💛 Text-Only Posts

💚 Videos

💛 Document Posts (Carousels)

💚 Articles

💛 Polls

Variety is the spice of life and remember that people buy from people who they know, like, and trust and what better way to get to know someone than seeing a personal post?

What do you think?

Have you got business because of your personal posts?

THURSDAY 13 July 1,514 impressions

When running my workshops I get loads of ideas for content and this week was no exception. One of my delegates didn’t know what a document post was.

So I created a document post to explain and also recorded a video to share how to make it. The video is in real-time so that you can open Canva and follow along with me.

Document posts can help you get deeper engagement, but fewer impressions. If you have some services or you know valuable information, consider adding a document post to your arsenal. These can then be repurposed as free lead magnets on your website.

Like I said in the comments above, we need to mix things up.

Have you tried a document post yet? You can watch the video here

Do you know about the LinkedIn Document Post feature?

Sometimes referred to as a carousel? Did you know it's a great way to engage with your content?

The document post is a great way to share your ideas, messages and services for everyone to see by swiping each page.

because many people access LinkedIn via their mobile phones I like ot keep the pages simple with big text.

But, you can also download these document posts so if you have lots of information this could be an awesome way to share your best-kept secrets. A bit like a lead magnet PDF.

There's so much that you can do with a document post, for example

💚 Advertise your services

💛 Offer Jobs

💚 Give away some top tips

💛 Share your photo's in a different format

💚 Inspirations Quotes

💛 Interactive Content

💚 Infographics

And many many more. Use your imagination.

At the end of my document is a link to the recording that I did in 15 minutes this morning. Go and watch it on YouTube and get your document posts created!!

What are you going to do?

FRIDAY 14 July 949 impressions

Every Friday I do a gratitude post.

Gratitude is a transformative practice with awesome benefits. It strengthens relationships, promotes positivity, boosts mental health, fosters personal growth, and spreads kindness. Discover the power of gratitude and its impact on our lives by sharing your gratitude!

Go on, have a go.

Here’s my post from this week.

What are you grateful for today?

When we practice gratitude we are training our brains to be happier and when you are thinking happy thoughts you cannot think sad thoughts.

It's another way to practice mindfulness and is scientifically proven.

Isn't that right Matt Young?

⭐️ 🥳 🙏 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊𝐒. 🙏 🥳 ⭐️

If you've never seen my Friday Gratitude Posts, I share what I'm grateful for and give the special people a shout-out for making my week awesome.

Who has made your week good?

The Sidmouth Chamber Of Commerce had our Monthly Breakfast. great to catch up with the gang and see Martin Crockett, Paul Maddison and other lovely Sidmothians. See you all in September 🥳

Big thanks to the incredibly bubbly Rob Brown for the amazing AIR Networking event yesterday. OMG, it was fantastic. What are my thoughts on this week?

I’m down a bit this week and I’m wondering if I have been taking my own medicine.

Down as in numbers before you start worrying.

So what is my medicine? It is commenting on enough posts of other people. Adding value and sharing knowledge, opinions and humour. I was running my LinkedIn Daily Habit Workshop this week so I am pretty full on so maybe I let my comments slide a bit.

I have had some grat posts this week and my video got probably the most engagement ever, so that’s something to build upon.

It’s all about consistency.

Have a great week.

Here is the breakdown.

Last week was much better. 19,049, which is nearly 2,000 more but the chart said I was down Engagements were at 646 also down on the chart by 8% but the numbers say an increase of 90. I don’t know why.

This week I’ve seen a drop in my impressions by 16% down to 17,913 that’s still over 2,500 a day Engagements this week are 647, it says down 13% but I had one more engagement this week.

Here are my six best-performing posts this week.
