How Do I know What Content Works on LinkedIn?

NEW WEEK Commencing 15 July

My Weekly Blog: What Do I Do with Content each Week?

Every week, I delve into the depths of my content from the previous week, sharing the back story of my creative process. It's an opportunity to witness how my tiny mind works and the outcomes they have achieved.

As always, I'm eager to share my analytics with you, allowing you to acquire invaluable knowledge to elevate your own content strategy.

Within this blog, I present a comprehensive overview of my content lineup, unveiling the purpose and intention that guided each post.

I also analyse the performance metrics, By sharing my analytics, I empower you to gain an understanding of the levels of engagement, reach, and impact that each piece has attained.

Here are my reflections and statistics for this week.

Views; Previous Week 2,264 -The overall number has increased, and the chart says a decrease of 14%, with 199 people looking this week. Down a bit, which is strange for a workshop week!

Views This Week As suspected I am down this week because I have been helping to get the wedding all sorted. Down by 23% means my views are only 2,174 and only 128 people looking this week. Down a fair bit, which is down to less activity!

Followers

In previous Week 7,810 which is another increase of 53 followers

This Week - 7,849 which is another increase of 39 followers again, not many, but no less activity.

427 Search appearances for the previous week! 438 searches this week, so up a bit.

Hashtag Follows Last Week 162

Hashtag Follows This Week 164 up another 2. Steady wins the race!

It is world emoji day on Monday, but as I create my video on Mondays I cannot take part, so this post was to give me a chance to talk about emojis and get people thinking about thor content for world emoji day.

I found a couple of my selfies that looked like emojis and added them to a background in Canva.

Do you use emojis to colour your content? Use sparingly though.

To prepare you for World Emoji Day I wonder what you think?

Should we use Emojis when we write? Do they have a place in modern writing?

Did you know it's World Emoji Day on Monday 17 July? You've now got the weekend to think of an idea to incorporate an emoji or two into your content for Monday!

I used to think they were childish and were only suitable on DM's and text messages.

But with the explosion of personal branding and more people creating content on platforms like LinkedIn, I feel they DO have a place if used sparingly.

✅ An emoji can really help convey what I am trying to say 😂

✅ An emoji can add colour 💚 💛

✅ An emoji can bring life to content 🥳

✅ An emoji can show your personality 🤗

✅ An emoji can help share your brand 💚 💛

✅ An emoji makes your bullets stand out ✅

Do you use emojis in your writing?

And more importantly, do you have a favourite one and why?

I cannot wait to see all the emoji-based content on Monday.

Have a fun weekend. We'll be busy preparing for the wedding next weekend. The speech is pretty much sorted 😁

SUNDAY 16 July 2,044 impressions

I was performing at a charity gig today with my great friend Will VIne and to get a bit of interest for the charity I did this post. I used a photo of myself and Will as a hook and then used the first line to make it compelling.

We all have good friends, so why not shout them out that is what this post was about today, whilst also mentioning the charity gig.

But I made the post about friendship.

When you have a message to get out there are many ways to do it. This is subtle. I wasn’t selling anything, but wanted to let people know about the great work that Young Lives do.

Over £10,000 was raised, so it was fantastic to be involved.

And great to sing with Will.

Do you have a Fantastic Friend? Or a Cheerful Chum?

Have you got someone who has your back or someone who has helped you through a difficult time?

Meet mine. Will Vine A friend of mine for over 13 years who has not only helped me grow as a performer but also got me through the lockdown.

When you have a purpose, life has more meaning and you have real goals, whether they are achievable or not, you have your why.

Where there's a Will there's a way eh?

Thank you buddy.

Will is a solicitor and actually does wills 😂. Perfect job for him. He's also pretty awesome at probate and other complicated stuff too. Please connect with him. You'll not be sorry.

Will can also play guitar, 🎸 which is pretty handy as we are in a band together. We are called Vine & Dandy and there are no prizes for who is dandy 😂.

We've been performing for the last 13 years in pubs and clubs, festivals and weddings and today we'll be giving it back when we perform for the amazing charity, Young Lives vs Cancer.

There is a big fun run starting in Tiverton at 10:00am today and ending at Sampford Peverell Playing Fields. We get a huge stage and all the sound kit you could wish for.

Think Glastonbury but with fewer people and no mud😁

We'll be entertaining all the superstars who are completing the fun run to raise funds for YLVC, it's gonna be great fun and we'll be having fun too

We kick off at 12:00 so if you are near please come and say hi.

Who is your Supportive Sidekick, Wonderful Wingman or Amazing Amigo?

Give them a huge hug and shout out too.

Have a fantastic Sunday

MONDAY 17 July 2,586 impressions

It’s Monday again. Another video. I try to create videos down by the sea as people seem to like them. Are you doing video yet?

Please let me know what puts you off from creating videos so that I can come up with some content to help you.

Do you draw a blank when you want to create content?

Does your screen stare back at you with a blinking cursor because you do not know what to write about?

Every week I share 5 different topics to help you to create content.

You just have to

💚 Write about what you know

💛 Write about what you love

💚 Write about what problems your clients have

💛 Write about what you've done in your business

💚 Write about what fun stuff

There are so many topics to talk about, Heck, I've even written a book about it.

But to save you buying the book watch my videos every Monday morning or subscribe to my Monday Nudge email.

Writing content becomes fun and helps you to get noticed and drive people to your profile, ultimately becoming clients or friends or referrers to your goods and services.

If you do not create content, how do we know who you are or what you do?

People buy from people who they know, like, and trust and creating content is a perfect way to help people to know you, like and trust you.

What will you write about today?

Previous Week

I had 2,586 impressions, which is getting more views than last week!! high for my Monday videos. Boom!!! 45 reactions 7 more than last week. 60 comments which are 5 more than last week. Brilliant news eh? It must have been because the video was created in the bandstand in the rain. 3 Reposts, this has helped my reach because this is going to new audiences!!

Views of the video were up a massive jump to 857, over 200 more!!, watched by over 200 more people at 782 viewers, with another hour watched at 247.9 minutes viewed. BOOM!!!

This Week

I had 1,167 impressions, 28 reactions, 20 comments, and 0 Repost.

Views of this video were up a massive jump to 440, down by nearly 50%!!, watched by fewer people at only 402 viewers, and only 150 minutes viewed. Back to normal after the bandstand video? Maybe I should switch things up a bit.

TUESDAY 18 July 1,232 impressions

You do not need to have 1,000s of leads coming in every day for social media to be successful, we all have different measures of success. So I asked this question last week.

What really is important to people?

When you post a question on LinkedIn so many people pile in to help.

So what do you want to know?

What does success look like for you on LinkedIn?

Do you get loads of business, or is it just about making connections?

Or what about better PR?

I bumped into one of my former students the other day and for them, it was getting featured in a trade magazine. BOOM!!!

This all came about because with the connectivity of LinkedIn.

He was able to reach out to the publisher of this specific magazine and has built a relationship with the editor who is now running a feature on their business.

When you use LinkedIn regularly you can use the search functions to find people who can help you with your business.

You can then follow them, connect with them and build a relationship. Let's face it, People buy from people who they know, like, and trust and LinkedIn is perfect for this.

LinkedIn doesn't have to be about leads, cold DM's and spamming people.

It can be so much more.

I have many friends from what I do on LinkedIn.

What does LinkedIn mean to you?

Are you getting business from your activities?

WEDNESDAY 19 July 808 impressions

We took our grandson to the circus for the first ever time this week and whilst there I noticed how well the performers all work together. A great example of awesome teamwork, so this got me thinking of an idea for some content.

I used a photo of the evening and then asked the question.

There are so many analogies that we can use with work and circuses so I went to town and ended up with an engaging post.

Have you been anywhere that you can run a parallel with what you do or your workplace?

Is life just a Circus?

When did you last go to a circus? And did you draw parallels to your business?

We took our grandson to his first-ever circus last night. OMG, we had so much fun and he had an absolute blast.

Watching him enjoy the spectacle was worth every penny of the admission fee.

It's just a shame that all that teamwork, practice, camaraderie, health & safety, consistency and endurance was wasted on him.

Watching the artists last night got me thinking of all the businesses that I work with and how there are many things that we can learn from the team who entertained us.

They did some incredible acts but many of them were dangerous if unpracticed and certain safety precautions were not taken.

They would have practised things many times and when they were using some of the huge props health and safety were paramount.

Every team member knew exactly what they had to do and where they had to be.

Imagine hanging from the roof on a rope and putting all your trust in one guy holding your safety line.

The photo is the Light show. We were too engrossed to take any other photos!

The circus is still running in Exmouth if you are in East Devon. It cost less than a tenner too!!

Is your business running like a circus?

Or do we just clown around?

We have our LinkedIn Local so I needed to let people know about it and with the Event post in LinkedIn you get the opportunity to invite people.

This is a great way to publicise an event and then track who is interested.

Have you found the event feature yet?

I have just uploaded a new video to help you HERE

How far do you have to travel for a networking event?

Have you travelled further than 167 miles? What about less than 1 mile?

I've been as far as London for a networking meeting,(Hence the 167 miles) but I prefer to stay local.

Even travelling to Exeter is stressful with traffic so I started a very local networking event here in Sidmouth.

I started it with the lovely Odessa Sherreard back in June last year.

Here we are a full year later still having fun and connecting with local people to say hi, have a bacon bap and a natter in the bar, or gardens of the lovely Balfour Arms here in sunny Sidmouth.

We're back next week and have some tickets left if you want to join us.

You do not have to prepare a sales pitch and you'll not be sold to either. It's proper informal (you'd expect that with me and Odessa eh? 😂)

We keep the costs super low thanks to the wonderful Simon and Daisy who get up early to help bring in the bacon.

We look forward to welcoming you next week.

So come on then, how far have you travelled for a networking event? Can you beat 167 miles?

Every week I do a Gratitude post and this one was so special

Have a read for yourself and you’ll see why.

Sharing gratitude makes everything good in the world 💚

What are you Grateful for this week?

For me, it has to be the wedding tomorrow, and being grateful for being a parent to my lovely daughters.

This week, especially to Megan, our youngest, who marries Rory tomorrow!

Do you ever stop to reflect, and remind yourself how lucky you are?

Every Friday I like to share my gratitude as a way to say thanks to everyone who has made my week brilliant. I also hope to inspire you to do the same.

⭐️ 🥳 🙏 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊𝐒. 🙏 🥳 ⭐️

Who or what has impacted your week?

So this week, my gratitude post is dedicated to my amazing family. ❤️

This photo was taken at the back of the church yesterday as we were having the rehearsal so that we all know what to expect tomorrow.

I am eternally grateful to my lovely wife Debbie who has been with me for 37 years, guiding m, helping me, supporting me and being an incredible mother to our two wonderful girls. Thank you, Debbie, ❤️

Also to my eldest daughter Jessica for teaching me how to be a father and showing me purpose. She's a fantastic big sister to Megan, wife and mother and is a talented business owner too. Thank you, Jess, ❤️

Finally, to Megan, I am so proud of this special human being. Caring, considerate, funny and focused. She's done incredible things already in her short life and now she embarks on a new chapter of her life.

Thank you, Megan, you know I'll do anything for you and I'm always here for you. Good luck with your new husband, Rory. ❤️

What are my thoughts on this week?

I’m down a bit this week because I was taking a lot of time off due to the wedding and some of my posts didn't perform too well. My current week has gone better so I will pick up. The thing with content is that you will always see ups and downs, but it’s the overall growth that you want to see.

More followers, more profile views and more leads.

That is all happening so I am not worried.

Plus I have some great content ideas that I am working on.

Do you look at your content in this much detail?

Here is the breakdown.

Last week was terrible. 17,913 that’s still over 2,500 a day Engagements this week are 647, it says down 13%

This week I’ve dropped again (wedding and eye off the ball and fewer hours) Impressions are down by 20% to 16,206 and Engagements are up this week by 1% to 734. I guess that’s the wedding photo fro my gratitude.

Here are my six best-performing posts this week.

If you want a hand with your content, please get in touch, and sign up for my weekly email that gives five new content ideas each week. I call it the Monday Nudge. Sign up here https://15mins.day/nudge
