How Do I Know That Content is Working on LinkedIn™️

NEW WEEK Commencing 16 September

My Weekly Blog: What Do I Do with Content Each Week?

Every single week I review my content. The reason I do this is I want to make sure that my content works. It adds value and I improve every single time I create content.

I want it to make people think and that you get inspiration to create your own content and start building your own network.

And I also share all of my analytics. So that you too can see what actually works and what doesn't and hopefully give you a little guidance.

Views;

Previous Week My numbers last week dropped a bit with 206 people viewing my profile this week. 1,943 people have viewed my profile in the last 90 days. down 10% this week. Next week I have some conferences, so I am expecting a bit of an uptick!

Views;

This Week An awesome week, but not surprising as I was out in front of people and therefore the curiosity got them to look at my profile. Up a stonking 52% with 311 people looking at my profile in just one week!!

Followers

In the previous Week

8,263 42 new followers this week

This Week - 8,419 which is nearly 3% up on last week and another 156 new followers this week. How awesome is that?

SATURDAY 16 September 1,668 impressions

On Saturday I reflected on a conversation that I had with someone who asked me how long I'd been writing content. So what I did was I found an old post and used the image and asked that question.

I had dark hair!! Do you ever look back at old posts? You could make that a feature of your content? Throwback Thursday?

How Long have you been writing content?

This was a question that I was asked by a fellow content creator so I looked back at my old articles and found this gem. 🤦‍♂️. Black hair. 😢

I'm pale because it was March so I'd had no sun ☀️

So how long have you been writing content?

If you write articles on LinkedIn they are there forever!! It was interesting to re-read my article talking about tech in accounting practices. Sadly not much has changed in 8 years.

If this is you, why not go back and find your old ones?

If you go to the top of LinkedIn (desktop) and hit the Me Icon, you'll get a dropdown. Next hit the Posts and Activity link. When you get here click on Articles and you can scroll back.

Not written an article?

What's stopping you? Do one today, so in 8 years you can look back and laugh too 😂

We tend to write quick posts for easy consumption, but longer-style content can be added to your content stack with the addition of the occasional article.

If you'd like to read the Article I'll put the link in the comments, it's quite funny as there are still some businesses who this relates to🤦‍♂️

Please let me know how long you have been writing content.

And is it working for you?

Because I have 4 talking gigs this week I was thinking about how busy I would be, and how other people cope with a busy period. I used an image of me juggling with the logos of the companies when I was talking that week and started the post with a question.

The good news is that I survived! Do you have busy weeks?

How do you keep it up? Stamina that is, what were you thinking?

I feel I am juggling again this week, so what do you do when you have lots to do?

I am talking (or on a panel) at four events this week. ✅

Accountex on Tuesday in Manchester

Your Partnerships with Jon Iacomino in Honiton on Thursday

South West Collaborator with Clare Palmer, Exeter Thursday

AAT on Friday in Warwick

How exciting is this? 🥳 But I need to make sure all my ducks are in a row.

For me, it is all to do with the preparation.

💚 My Slides and Presentation Notes Complete

What tips can you give me to make sure that I can be fresh for each gig?

MONDAY 18 September 1,161 impressions

Every Monday I do a video. And this week I was stuck in my shed because of the weather. And therefore I did it from there. Not as fun as normal which I guess is why the numbers were down.

Are you staring at a blank screen looking for content ideas?

Is your devil on your shoulder telling you that you cannot write anything?

Don't worry, you are not alone. This is why I do this.

Every Monday I create a weekly email (Monday Nudge) to help people with content Ideas and I also make this video to help you.

Just five topics with sub-ideas to inspire you to write your own content and become a creator.

If you create just one piece of content each week you'll soon start to see content everywhere and love the process of being a content creator.

With so few people creating content, this will help you stand out and become a thought leader in your area

💚 The goto person for your specific industry

💛 The person who has the answers

💚 The one who gets referrals

💛 The helpful person

The person who has clients coming to them!

Why not have a go today, come on, what's stopping you?

Shout if you need a hand

Which idea made you laugh today and do you have any pirate jokes?

TUESDAY 19 September 1,553 impressions

On Tuesday, I was at a conference. I used an image of me and my colleague at a conference.

If I had talked about the conference then I would not get much engagement, but tiwisnting the narrative I asked the question, how far do you travel for a conference? This meant that people shared how far they had travelled and it created a lot of chat in the comments.

That’s what we want eh?

How far do you travel for a conference?

When you live in Devon, most places are a bit of a drive, but well worth it as today I am at Accountex.

We did a road trip with Ian Cooper and Sam Isaacs of FYI to reduce our carbon footprint and made good time. How did you get here and did you have a travel buddy?

As you can imagine, I am SUPER EXCITED today🥳

I'm on a panel with a load of cool social media superstars, hosted by the lovely Phil Hobden

On our panel, we'll be sharing what works and what doesn't on social media and helping Accountants and bookkeepers to do more to get noticed.

How they can get leads, grow their brand, and get business.

I'll also be on stand G15 with Nikolai Naylor and will be on hand to answer your LinkedIn questions, help you with your profile and even help you create a new banner.

Pop over, if I'm free I'll be delighted to have a natter. We are on the top right-hand corner of the Sage Cafe!

Or why not book a slot with me? https://15mins.day/io

I cannot wait to see all my Accountants & Bookkeepers friends and peers from this wonderful community.

See you later and let me know how far you have travelled to an event.

WEDNESDAY 20 September 2,909 impressions

Following the conference, I shared ten of my photos using the document post feature of LinkedIn. People love seeing photos of other people out and about. PLUS, when you are part of a community you’ll attract everyone within that community. It always helps if people are smiling too. I am so lucky to have so many friends in the accounting space.

WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY - Thank you Accountex

Thank you to everyone who came and said hello, had a selfie talked on LinkedIn or just came for a hug. 🤗

On the stand with Nikolai Naylor I got to meet so many lovely people.

I cannot name you all but I had the best day ever and without exception, everyone was lovely. ❤️ Thank you 🙏

Being on the panel with the social media Superstars was a definite highlight.

Thank you for inviting me Phil Hobden. So lovely to sit on stage with

💚 Francesca Tricarico FMAAT

💛 Rachel Harris MBA CMgr MCMI MAAT

💚 Stuart Hurst

This is in alphabetical order Francesca, I DO NOT HAVE favourites, you are all amazing and you all inspire me.

And judging by all the comments and feedback, you guys inspire many Accountants & Bookkeepers too!! BOOM!!!

Congratulations to Caroline Hobden, Rachel Gregory and the Accountex team for making this such an incredible event.

Sorry I dashed off and missed the party, but it was a 6 hour drive back home.

I'll stay 2 nights next year!!

What was your biggest takeaway from Accountex?

I didn't take enough photos, so if you have any to share, Go For It!!!

THURSDAY 21 September 2,333 impressions

On Thursday I was at two local networking events. For this post I added some images of the people that I was involved with and I also talked about two events that I was organizing the following week.

To get more engagement I asked if you liked networking and does it really work for you. The post got a lot of engagement because lots of people have lots of reasons for networking.

Do you Like Networking? Does it really Work for you?

What are your top tips for making Networking worthwhile?

The fact that I have TWO networking Events that I am speaking at today, it got me wondering what all the fuss is about.

I love a good networking event. In fact, I love it so much that I created one here in Sidmouth and I love meeting up with other local business owners.

We all see people going out to networking meetings, but what are they getting from it?

I love the camaraderie, the friendships that I make and the fact that we can all help each other.

When you're on your own in business, this is a valuable lifeline.

8:30am today I'll be catching up with Jon Iacomino and the Your Partnerships in Honiton to give a short talk all about the benefits of being active on LinkedIn.

Then at 1:00pm today in Exeter Library, the lovely Clare Palmer is hosting the South West Collaborator with a panel of real local celebrities. Not sure how I got on that panel, but I think there may be some tickets left.

Next week we have our LinkedIn Local with Odessa Sherreard and Tuesday sees Becky Craven and I host our first ever Social Media Workshop.

Is it worth the early morning starts, or getting all dolled up for?

Please share your top tips and any links to your favourite networking events!

FRIDAY 22 September 1,333 impressions

And finally, on Friday, it's my gratitude post. I always share my gratitude, for why I've had a great week, and this week was no exception.

Are you still buzzing? How was your week?

Was it epic? Or even tremendous? What are you grateful for today?

When we look at the good things, we're training our brain to focus less on the negative stuff. That's why I'm upbeat and positive most of the time. 🤗

But this week has been a blinder and I'm still not finished.

⭐️ 🥳 🙏 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊𝐒. 🙏 🥳 ⭐️

What about YOU, Who can you shout out this week?

First off.

Accountex. BOOM!! What an amazing event. Thank you to Caroline Hobden for being the shining light and all her team for making it such a memorable and beneficial event. I have so many new friends. ❤️ 🙏

Also Thank you to the amazing and energetic Phil Hobden (Are they related?) for bringing together such an amazing panel and for inviting me to partake too. So much fun. You guys know who you are, it's not good to tag so many people eh? Thank you, legends and heroes ❤️ 🙏

Thank you Nikolai Naylor for inviting me to be on his stand at Accountex and meeting so many of his lovely clients and having a base for the day. Boom!! Thank you, Nikolai, it's great working with you. ⭐️ 🥳 🙏

Stand up, Clare Palmer. You are a superstar. You created an amazing event yesterday and to be part of your panel was so special. I was amongst the great and the good. What a day. You guys know who you are too. I love you all. 💚 💛 ❤️ 🙏

Thank you to Jon Iacomino too for his inspired choice of guest at the Honiton Your Partnerships event yesterday where I shared my passion for LinkedIn in just 15 minutes. Thank you, Jon, any time 🙏 ✅

And finally, I ended the week with a Jam of In the Air Tonight at our Open Mic here in Sidmouth. A load of beautiful musicians all coming together for the love of music.

Obviously, I still have today, so keep your eyes peeled for next week.

What are my thoughts on this week?

This was always going to be a great week because I was on the lips of many new people because of the appearances that I have had this week. You cannot beat getting out there and talking to people, saying hi and having a hug.

They looked at my profile, some connected, many more followed and therefore that puts more eyeballs on my content.

What O need to do now is follow up with people who have been in touch and connected.

Adding photos of the events on the content will give more engagement too because these people will be charred connections so we all win.

All you need to do is get a little out of your comfort zone.

What will you do this week to get out of your comfort zone?

Here is the breakdown.

Previous week

I increased to 19,224 but the chart says a drop by 8% Not sure how this works. My Sunday post about the wedding was a popular post. My engagement bounced back by 7% to 659.

With the polls and the questions that I asked this week I was going to get better engagement so this is what we need to do more. Make it easy for people to engage!

This week

This week I dropped a bit on impressions to 18,900 but the chart says a drop of just 1%

My engagement however has increased again this week to 769 which is 27% up on last week.

Just goes to show that if you get out and about in places where your ideal client is, you’ll get them looking at your social media. Especially if you are on a panel that talked about social media.

Here are my six best-performing posts this week.

If you want a hand with your content, please get in touch, and sign up for my weekly email that gives five new content ideas each week. I call it the Monday Nudge. Sign up here https://15mins.day/nudge
