Breakdown and review of my LinkedIn Posts for WEEK Commencing 25 June 2022

SATURDAY 25 June

During the week I met with Heather Howe who gave me a wonderful website review. So, as a thank you, I gave her a write-up. But how did I make it a post that would get people engaged?

It was a pure text post.

I started with a question. Here’s the start of that post that did very well for a Saturday!!!

Do you offer any of your services for free? Do you give away your resources?

When was the last time that you reviewed your website?

I guess we build it, tick that box and then move on eh?

We need to review these things regularly because things change and we move on.

When I was at a networking meeting with the FSB recently I met the delightful Heather Howe from Sox Digital Ltd. We all did our pitches and Heathers was to offer a free website review.

Sounds cool, so why not.

SUNDAY 26 June

We’ve got another LinkedIn Local coming up so I used Sunday to create the event. Not the best day for reach, but the idea of an event is that you can invite people. So that is what I did.

An event also has an image so I use Canva to make something that stands out and gives away what the event is.

I also started with a question.

Do you think that networking meetings are too stuffy?

When did you last go to one?

I did too so I did something about it!

I was super brave and set up a LinkedIn Local in Sidmouth last month and because people enjoyed it so much I'm coming back for more. We've already sold 30% of the tickets and I haven't even publicised the event yet!!

I say SOLD, it's only £3.00 to help cover the costs of breakfast!

Basically, we are just meeting up at the local pub for a chinwag and I'll be sharing some top tips on using LinkedIn.

TUESDAY 28 June

I haven’t done a poll in a while so I wanted to see if they still have the reach, plus I also wanted to know if my new Real Life in-person workshop would work.

When you create a poll you need to create the post in the same way as you create a text post as this gives us something to read even if we do not take part in the poll.

Here’s the post

Do you do self-development? What about training?

I'm keen to hear what you do please.

I love listening to podcasts and audiobooks and occasionally pay for training, coaching and mentoring, but was wondering what is the most popular medium for learning. Can you help?

Which version do you prefer?

Is it ZOOM TRAINING?

With my successful and well-practised LinkedIn Daily Habit Workshop, I host a zoom meeting each morning for just 15 minutes and inspire people to make changes to their LinkedIn Habits and their profiles.

Or is it VIDEO ONLINE TRAINING?

I recently launched a self-help version, the same content with videos, but without me bouncing all over the zoom room. 😂

Or what about CLASSROOM TRAINING?

In July I will be delivering the same content in a classroom, I'm not sure how I can last more than 15 minutes, but many people have asked for this style of training. Especially as we come out of lockdown.

Please let me know what you love or come up with other ideas that I haven't thought about.

How do you learn? If you are a teacher which works best for you?

I had 2,340 impressions and 38 comments You can see that I only got 47 votes, but it’s not about the votes, see how much engagement I got. That’s real conversations. All ways that people are building up that Know, Like and Trust!

WEDNESDAY 29 June

I did a motivational post today.

Another text post.

I have done many things consistently and am improving all the time, but sometimes we do not see immediate improvement, so I thought that I would share what I do. I didn't want it to be a brag, so I re-framed it with this question.

When should you quit? Give up. Stop the grind.

Never eh?

Just because you are not getting much engagement on your LinkedIn Posts, doesn't mean that you should give up either.

You've heard about the 10,000-hour rule, right? Google it, there's loads of myths about it.

But surely if we just keep doing stuff we'll improve? YES!!!!

That's why I am still doing my lunchtime music gigs on my Facebook channel and still going with my LinkedIn Live shows every Tuesday and Wednesday at 12:30pm.

THURSDAY 30 June

I created a Meme using Canva for today's post. See above for the image.

I wanted to remind people that reactions were not as good or valuable as Comments.

Here’s the post, what do you think?

Do you like the new FUNNY icon?

Have you got it?

Have you used it?

We love an emoji eh? 😁

Great in the right place, but do you see examples of overuse?

Please do not forget to comment though🤦‍♂️

Adding a reaction to a post is great for engagement, but it is also a little bit counterintuitive if you do not leave a comment too.

By leaving a comment you are interacting with the author of the post and inviting more engagement and after all, isn't that what we want to do as human beings?

In my training the most talked about takeaway is day two. On day two we talk about creating engagement on LinkedIn and I reflect on what we do in real life and compare it to social media. It's a mic drop moment!

So please use the reaction icons when you like a post, but do yourself a favour and comment too.

The author will love you and you never know, you may spark up. great long-lasting relationship.

Who doesn't want that?

I had only 1,175 impressions but an encouraging 42 comments

FRIDAY 1 July

I had a gig on Saturday this week so as a bit of a fun Friday I gave a shout-out to my co-conspirator in our band but to make it more engaging I asked to find out what you do too.

I found out that one of my connections is learning to fly!! I didn’t get any strawberries though (you need to read the comments to find out why)

Here we go. Started off with some emojis too.

🎸 🎸 Do you have an 'Alter Ego'? 🎸 🎸

Come on, don't be shy, tell us......

This lawyer and I do!! Meet Will Vine, guitar player extraordinaire!!

We've been creating music and entertaining for 13 years and have helped each other through lockdown with music and friendship. And yes, because of Will's name we are called Vine & Dandy😁

Tomorrow night we're dusting off our guitars and will be entertaining the fine people of Cullompton here in Devon at the Weary Traveler.

We've not done too many gigs since the pandemic so it's great to be able to get out and do what we absolutely love.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭? Are you an entertainer? A serious sports person or maybe you have a voluntary role.

Let us know what you get up to when you are not working or doing LinkedIn.

I'm looking for more musicians but I also want to hear about the unusual, so if you are a snake charmer, please step forward!!

Whatever you get up to this weekend, have a fantastic time and make every second count ❤️

My week, although not bad was a huge deficit on the previous week and by monitoring this I can pull out my A-game to reverse the curve. Am I bothered? Well, we have to take it in context eh? You cannot hit the high notes every week, but by keeping an eye I can be more forthright with what I talk about this week.

Let’s see what happens next week.

If you want a hand then ask me to review your LinkedIn profile. It's all free and will give you some pointers to get you looking your best on this incredible platform.
